The Cursed One

L E G E N D

There once was a young Pearlcatcher whose curiosity knew no bounds and whose braveness was admired by all of his friends.
He would travel the world in search of adventures and secrets undiscovered, so when word reached him about a mysterious, bioluminescent cave, he did not hesitate to set out for this wondrous place.

On his way to the cave, the brave adventurer met a few dragons, all anxiously trying to dissuade him from his expedition, but pushed by curiosity and blinded by naivete the young dragon did not listen.

He found his way to the mouth of the cave and entered. The bioluminescent flora provided more than enough light for him to explore the cave and so he moved deeper and deeper into the legendary cave.
On more than one occasion was he stricken with uneasiness and the thought that he should turn back at once. He did not pay it any mind though, and moved on and on, further into the cave until he was suddenly engulfed by light.

The young dragon was never seen again.

S T A T U E

Many decades later a young Spiral hatched inside the Luminous Cave. The cave's powers affected her but the cave did not punish her for venturing far into it.
In the cave's depths she found the true-to-life crystal statue of a Pearlcatcher that caught her interest.

Wondering who had crafted it and how it had gotten so far into the cave, the Spiral dragged the weight of the statue outside for better inspection, though remained as clueless as before.

Years passed and the Spiral had grown more knowledgable regarding the world, the Luminous Cave and magic.
She had come to realize that the object she had found was far more than a mere crystal statue, and so she began trying to break the curse that laid on the statue.

The Spiral felt the life that was still pulsating beneath the crystal surface and it called out to her.
Bit by bit she managed to weaken parts of the statue though, without the curse being broken, there was no way for her to save the sould that was trapped inside the precious case.

Ever since the Spiral had been working on breaking the curse, ever so slowly cracking the surface in her continuous attemps to free the Pearlcatcher trapped inside.
