Missei's frantic energy soon draws the attention of Yusra and Lavrenti, and this time it's Lavrenti who caves to their silent battle of wills.
"Excuse me, miss?"
Missei rounds on the newcomer. "What?" She snapped. "Can't you see I'm trying to catch something here?"
Lavrenti blinked and raised her hands up in a calming gesture. "Whoa there. I'm only here to say we'd like to keep the familiars alive if possible."
Missei grunted. "And if that isn't possible?"
Lavrenti thought for a moment. "So you'd like a fight then?" they asked in a serious tone.
Missei grinned. "If you have one, then yes."
Lavrenti hummed, but it seemed somewhat pleased. "Half of the reason why we're rounding up these poor things is because one of our more dangerous creatures is on the loose."
Missei stood a little taller. "What is it?"
"A Wendigo," said Lavrenti slowly; watching Missei's eyes light up. "Last I saw, it was on the far side of the courtyard. Even the animals are keeping back from there."
Indeed, as Missei looked, one half of the courtyard did seem a bit more quiet. "I'm on it." She walked away, ignoring Lavrenti's thanks, and soon felt her excitement and blood-lust come to a peak.
This should be fun.

The other half of the courtyard was almost abandoned, but a low rumbling growl seemed to echo off the stone buildings, and Missei's grin grew sharper. There.
She slowly peered around a corner, and there sat a Wendigo, eating what appeared to be the remains of a Satin Pocketmouse. As it was distracted, Missei crept up slowly behind it, making sure her apparel didn't rustle along the cobbled floor.
She was almost upon it when one of its ear twitched, and it rounded upon her with a bellow. It attempted to gore her with its fierce antlers, but Missei was faster, swiping it across its face with her claws. It reared backwards with a yelp, and managed to correct itself into a defensive stance.
There was a long, drawn-out moment where they both weighed each other up. Missei noted the intelligence in its beady eyes, and she suddenly rearranged her strategy.
And not a moment too soon, as the Wendigo charged forward. It's huge fists were like boulders as they slammed into her, but she was faster, squirming underneath it until she sank her teeth into its thick neck.
She could feel its erratic heartbeat under her lips; felt every muscle in the Wendigo tense as it froze. She was so tempted to bite further down, but dimly remembered that pesky Imperial.
She sank her claws into the Wendigo's neck on either side, releasing her teeth from its neck slowly. It tried to escape her grasp, but she dug her claws in harder out of warning. She slowly leaned back until she could look it in its wide eyes. It was looking around for an opportunity to escape, but eventually settled back on her.
"Good. We have an agreement, yes? You try to escape me, and I will hunt you down myself. Next time, I won't be so forgiving."
The Wendigo's heaving breaths slowly steadied. It held eye contact with her in defiance, until its eyelids drooped and a shuddering sigh made the creature droop.
Missei smirked. "Correct answer."
