Neru had been abandoned at the Pergamon marketplace as a hatchling. While wandering around he saw and attached himself to Vivien, a young lighmaker Fae, because she had the same wings as him. To his young mind that definitely meant that she was his mother. Vivien tried to take the boy to grandma Sunnathy since she takes care of all the orphaned and abandoned hatchlings in the clan. Neru had been happily chirping until the moment when Vivien tried to leave. Then he started to cry. The wail was so pitiful that Vivien decided that she just might allow the boy to stay with her for a little bit, just so he could get used to the idea of his new life. That was a few years ago now.

Neru is happy to help his new mother in her lightmaker’s shop. He’s still too young to be of much actual help but the customers like the bubbly Fae and he does have strong opinions about which of her mothers lights are good and which ones are not. Vivien herself can recognize when she hasn’t produced her best and the lights Neru dislikes usually end up on discount bin or donated to those in need.
