She had always known she wasn't wanted. Her mother had been a free-spirited dragon, mating whenever she felt like it and showing minimal care to her hatchlings. When she did find time for her hatchlings, she showed an obvious preference for those that were fitter, tougher, and stronger. She had been the youngest in her nest, and the only female as well. Such were the dynamics of a plague clan.

Hhe had a confession to make. Something that had deteriorated inside of her, something that she had done her best to forget. She couldn't take it anymore, plain and simple. She was the runt, the disappointment, the one that would never amount for much. She waited patiently for a time when their backs were turned and slipped out into the night. They had hunted for her, but had given up after a while. Amelia's runt wasn't worth that much time, anyways.

Eventually she found herself by the river. The water had seemed too inviting to pass. It took all of the courage inside of her to dive inside and be carried away to the unknown. The river spilled into an ocean, the currents carried her to a clan that welcomed her with open arms.

She was taken under the care of a young magician, Astarr, who gave her her name, Cortia. He was a welcome companion who always knew how to make her laugh and smile when she was disappointed. As soon as she was old enough, he got her a position as a guard for the diplomatic team in the clan. He stayed by her side while she was getting adjusted, and fter a while, she realized that she saw him as more than just a friend. Cortia spent a month pestering him to see what she could see before he finally relented an took her as a mate.

____Cortia is the third member of the diplomatic team, recruited in the early days of diplomacy. Cortia isn't known for her high level of intelligence or skilled way with words. Rather, she's known for her neutrality among the members, not showing a preference for one member or another. While it does make her distant and cold to her members, it also makes her a welcome judge of their problems. Because of that, she was alwa

____On the days that she's free from her diplomatic mission, Cortia spends time assisting her mate Astarr in his magic shows. She's a welcome addition to eccentric magician, whose mind wanders from one thing to the next. The two can often be found musing about different magic tricks with their hatchlings found rolling around at their feet.

____Her hatchlings are known for their carefree and adventurous streak, which she boastfully claims is inherited from her. When she and Astarr have the free time, the two bring their hatchlings on a variety of trips around the dragon world, letting them open their eyes to the things outside their clan.

____Maybe it's something about their personalities, but her hatchlings never stay with her for long. They're too eager to explore the world to let something as little as their size or age get in the way. Often times, they latch onto the first clan they see, without a backward glance at their parents. Or a good-bye..
