To most dragons in the land of Sornieth, being a warrior is the most honorable profession. Warriors defend their home, their family, their deity, but to Nan that simply isn't the truth. She had grown up around warriors, she understood they were valiant and whatnot, however they tended to be very foolish. Also, they were just the foot soldiers. All the real work in fighting, and winning, came from the background work. Work such as delivering messages. Not only did it help in any and all war efforts for delivering messages to war generals, but it held so much more. The act of receiving a letter from the messenger from a loved one or when the messenger arrived with a package that wasn't expected. Nan found that to be the most exhilarating thing. Stepping back into the clan as the little ones crowd around her feet, asking if she has any letters for them. It's a feeling that couldn't be beat in any sort of combat or exaltation. It's a different kind of honor, but, in Nan's opinion, so much more important than any foot soldier.
