Biography
Values: Responsibility
Flaws: Stubborn, Sensitive
Traits: Loyal, Reliable, Determined
The Angelus (/ˈændʒələs/; Latin for "angel")
Catholic devotion commemorating the Incarnation. As with many Catholic prayers, the name Angelus is derived from its incipit: Angelus Domini nuntiavit Mariæ ("... the Angel of the Lord declared unto Mary ...") and is practised by reciting as versicle and response three Biblical verses narrating the mystery; alternating with the prayer "Hail Mary". The Angelus exemplifies a species of prayers called the "prayer of the devotee".
The Angelus, in all its stages of development, was closely associated with the ringing of a church bell.
Angelus was born in the orphanage of the Great Furnace, during a ceremony in celebration of the Flamecaller. An acolyte that was looking after the nest would say that her egg cracked the moment the ceremonial bell rang.
All hatchlings in the orphanage were tought to be of service to the Flamecaller. However, as a young hatchling Angelus fell into the lava river and got carried away by the strong current. The acolytes looked for her but to no avail. Only by the Flamcaller's mercy she survived the immense heat and pressure of molten rocks. Injured and badly burned she was washed out on the shore, at the bottom of the Canyon. There by chance a group of very young Serthis found her. They debated on killing or even eating the dragon but a smart-looking boy pointed out her breed. He suggested that if they helped the guardian, she may make them as her charges and in future, protect them even from other dragons. After that everyone except for one slithered away to call for help of adult mages. The one who stayed was the smallest of girls and she gently spoke to Angelus to calm her down and keep her conscious until help arrived.
