Being the oldest child of the clan's two seers, a lot was expected from Quiying by her parents, her clan, and last but not least, herself. Quiying soon surpassed both of her parents in terms of skill, and through astral projection her soul could travel anywhere in the world while her body slept.

This wasn't enough, however. Quiying pushed herself to discover more, to travel farther. When she had astrally travelled around the world multiple times, she started extending further and further into the sky, into the stratosphere, closer and closer to the edge of the universe... Until she travelled too far.

She woke up from her astral projecting that night feeling her toes and patches of her skin grow ice cold and stiff. Looking down, she saw with horror that her toes and chunks of her skin had become crystallized. At first, she didn't see the connection. When she tried to use her powers again and the crystal spots become bigger, she did.

Too proud to let people know of her mistake but too scared of becoming crystallized, Quiying refuses to do her job while making up selfish excuses as to why. Because of this, she's slowly becoming ostracized by the clan.
