A fearful little girl, Amaryllis wasn't always like this. Before she saw her brother Oleander do something that made her flinch whenever she sees red, she was a happy, friendly child. Now she tries to always catch her own food and never eats or drinks things made by others.

The truth is, you want to open up to others and see beauty in life again. You don't want to let that past trauma define you, but the fear and paranoia have directed you for so long that you don't know who you are without them. You wonder- without them, is there even anything left at all? But you don't have to feel like it's unrealistic to not want to give up. That cynicism is just a lie that the pain tells. This doesn't have to be all there is, dear child. Hope is only really lost when you choose to let go of it. So hold on and keep pressing forward, and one day you'll be able to look back on this place as just a rough patch that you had to pass through on the way to your happy ending...
