Biography
Hail was somewhat of a disappointment to his father. Always full of mischief whereas his father was far more serious as one of the clans forefront diggers. After being told off, he ran away from home....into plague lands. The land was wretched and unforgiving, a source of wonder for the young wildclaw who had been born in a desolate frigid wasteland. The Beastclan of the Wandering Contagion were relentless and Hail was soon set upon by their hordes.
The young dragon was weak and had resigned himself to his fate when suddenly over the horizon, a troupe of other wildclaws appeared. Fearless and strong, the team drove off the Beastclan with tooth and claw. Then the leader among them approached, dressed in the gear of a powerful warrior and smelling of the blood of her enemies. She introduced herself as Sidhe.
"You're safe now, please come back home with us," she said as she wrapped a protective wing around him as he lay sprawled out on the ground in defeat. Hie raised his head and stared at her with his wide pale eyes. Plague eyes. She had come from this land once, following The Warren clans travels into the southern icy terrain, though the young dragon could not understand why. Neither of Poisoner's parents had been from the Cloudscrape Crags, either. Though he was one of the few born into the land who survived it, he never felt he belonged there.
"You're one of us," she smiled, "You have come a great distance on your own. It's a wonder you've survived out here on your own. We're heading back south to the Cloudscrape Crags to meet up with the rest of Warren Clan. You should join us there." She lifted Hail onto her back, where he fell into slumber quickly. The others smiled and fawned over him. The Warren was truly a melting pot for a number of diverse outsiders. Sidhe herself once hailed from The Shifting Expanse, he had learned.
As a young adult, he would apprentice under another wildclaw named Nancy in her Veterinary clinic helping the very Beastclan who once attacked him as a child by making potions and salves. Before she left to serve Plaguebringer, she taught Poisoner how to fix up all of the captured Beastclan so that The Warren has an army of tiny bionic animals. Nancy and Virulent, yet another wildclaw, had spearheaded the bionics program. Poisoner was left to follow in their footsteps to make creatures "better than new"...with tiny lasers on their heads.
He learned quickly that not only can Plague dragons be kind, but so can the creatures of the wild if only they are shown some kindness, and maybe that's all these harsh and wild lands really needed these days. Despite running away to the land of the Plague clans which his father was loathe to associate with, he wondered if his family was proud of him now for finding his true calling. He had thought about becoming a digger like his father or a warrior like his mother and Sidhe, but had decided that it is best to forge your own path in the world.
With the split of the wildclaw echelon within The Warren, of course Hail had chosen to join them and follow their new leader, Oathless, through the ice flight territories of the south. He had never fully trusted Uncouth, The Warren's paranoid leader, not to lead them headlong into disaster. It was the wildclaw echelon who had first brought him back into the clan regardless. Though now, the wildclaw's numbers were dwindling and the splitting of the clan which once drove a wedge between his kind and his ragtag family group was finally beginning to mend. When Simoom brought the clan together for a meeting and announced that The Warren would follow the wildclaws into the Southern Icefields, Hail was relieved. The fact that Uncouth bowed to his adopted son and stated that he would be honored to have him rule at his side, helped solidify the bonds between the clanmates once more and Hail began to develop a deep respect for Uncouth and Simoom, wondering where the nomadic clan would next travel to, as he now knew that wherever they roamed together was where he truly belonged.
