Rat is, for lack of a better word, a scout. That's not to imply he has a specific role in the clan however. Rat scouts as a hobby, usually when he's exploring the surrounding nature of the clan and stumbles on something he finds unusual. He reports back to the clan simply because he likes the attention he gets from his abnormally loud screeching.

He has not once found a threat to the clan, their treasures, or their hatchlings, and has instead found many interesting bugs and shiny plants. The haunting shrieks echoing over the tops of the lair are to be gracefully ignored, as far as the rest of the inhabitants are concerned.

Rat can be incredibly forgetful with his hygiene as well, and whilst dragons don't sweat or produce body odour as much as some other creatures do, he often smells of dirt, tree sap, and occasionally the panicked defence fluids of stink bugs.

While he's loud, a busy body and eccentric at the best of times, he is a good source of insects for the clan's food storages as he stuffs them into his pack along the way.
