Felicity's paternal grandmother, Duskbright, ran away from Clan Adeptica after she was blamed for a magical explosion that accidentally killed one of its members. Lady Adeptica shunned her and forbade her from using her magic within the clan's territory, so she fled rather than give up being a mage.* Her two sons, Ephron and Eliezer, remained with the clan, but they always harbored a grudge against their clan matriarch, and that spirit of rebellion was passed along to Felicity. However, neither of the two brothers have ever had the courage to openly start a confrontation with Adeptica or Devon about what happened.

Despite her family's lingering resentment toward the clan's leader, Clan Adeptica's lair is Felicity's home, and she cares deeply about the safety of her family and friends. She is remarkably brave for a Pearlcatcher, and has found her place in the clan as a spy and scout. Her dark coloration makes it easy for her to go on covert border patrols at dusk or before dawn. She does this every day, keeping a watchful eye open for potential incursions by Beastclans or meteor-riding aliens, and reporting back to Talia with her findings.

Socially, Felicity has always found herself drawn to the clan's more eccentric members: Mopsy, the lone Ridgeback, Valtane, the more outgoing of the two Coatls, and Ember, the wannabe-Coatl. Thanks to her friendship with Ember, Felicity will be the third member of the party that will accompany her when she travels to the Ashfall Waste.
