Biography
ERHUNE
- Traveling Runecrafter -
- Traveling Runecrafter -
Name : Erhune
Breed : Guardian dragon – Her Charge is a mysterious ovoid gemstone that looks like some sort of egg – but doesn’t seem to be a regular egg. It has a powerful passive magic inside that allows Erhune to craft her artefacts
Date of Birth : 22 May
Age : Adult (human equivalent : circa 40 years old)
Important date : Beginning and End of her Search – Finding of the first dragon totally compatible with her runic artefacts – finding Jium and Birlazi and beginning of their teaching – arrival in our clan – finding her new rune crafting technique
Flight Allegiance : Born in the Lightning Flight. Keeps praying the Stormcatcher but is totally devoted to her job.
Role : Magic mentor and runecrafter
Mate : Nobody for now.
Familiar : Lutho, Maren Clearwater Oracle.
Bonds : Master of Jium and Birlazi. Friend of Sedewus. Considers Elyäh as a pair, a scientific and maybe a student if he wants to. Considers herself as the soft auntie of Alec and Meredith. Sees herself in Mystblade and wants to help her.
Den : Erhune, Jium and Birlazi share a three-dens complex, the first one created by Hidust and Blazeshade (until there, they slept in the meeting hall). Erh’une’s room is in a big hole in the cliff’s heights, connected with a wooden platform and ropes and wood bridges to nearby huts in trees occupied y Jium and Birlazi.
Speciality : Crafting magical-runes-incrusted artefacts – teaching magic
Gift, Power, Equipment : The runic objects she crafts can reveal a magic power personal to their bearer - but the in order to discover it quickly and to use it easily, the bearer should be the most compatible with the artefact. It’s only since a little time that Erhunes knows how to craft objects made to improve their compatibility with their bearer as time passes, and to craft these objects according to some parameters to make them more compatible at the beginning with the dragon she wants to give them to
Temperament : Patient, concentrated, studious, curious, authoritarian, demanding, accurate, hardworking , protective, quickly discouraged and gives up
Favourite places and activities : Erhunes loves most doing her job : creating new rune-carved artefacts. It’s the rune writing part she prefers. She also likes to nap under the sun to heat up and to fly during storms. She is not really a good flyer, but she is used to tempests flights and is reliable during that kind of weather.

Personnality
Erhune is a magic teacher, but more than anything, an artisan. She is accurate, patient and hard-working. She works a lot on her techniques and on improving her knowledge about runes, that are her favourite subject.
As a teacher, she is demanding and severe, but that’s because she wants her students to be better each day. She’ll never put them in danger and she would protect them until death if needed. She is used to be obeyed and considerated as a figure of authority, and therefore is rather authoritarian. It’s not in a bad way and she is not abusing of it, she is just naturally expecting the people she talks to to do as she say.
She never could make a runic artefact for herself and despite long researches, she never manage to understand and master her special ability until she worked with Elyäh and Myrteerie. She is used to understand people’s inner personality very well in order to find which of her artefacts suits them best, but she is afraid of truly knowing herself. On the inside, she avoids searching for her inner self because she is afraid of she could discover – afraid to be disappointed and to lose her self-confidence, that she had the greater difficulties to put together. When she was younger, she tried and failed a few projects and wasn’t able to find her way in the world. Convinced she was good to nothing and absolutely not able to protect a Charge, it took a long time for her to finally go on her Search, and this had left marks on her.
She totally can’t help with being ridiculous with mushiness in front of baby animals and hatchlings. But she didn’t felt like having kids of her own, nor to find a husband. She likes traveling a lot, and runecrafting more than anything. If she would accept someone as her mate, it would probably be an artisan and a traveller too. She is rather resigned to never meet someone for her, as she travelled during long years and sometimes met dragons that could have been the ones… nothing worked more than a few weeks. She says she is to attached to her work that is her real love.
She dreams to really master her skill in runecrafting in order to be able to give the perfect artefact to everyone she wants.
Childhood
Erhune lived a rather happy childhood in a Lightning clan. She knew one day she would go on her Search like her mother, and that she had time to find her place in the world.
Erhune as a child :
Teenage age
But things didn’t go as well as expected… Erhune had many hobbies and activities she liked, but no one in which she was really gifted, or even good at. She tried to launch numerous projects, but none worked. She wasn’t especially hated, but she hadn’t a lot of friends and she was proud : she didn’t want to ask for any help. Soon, her self-esteem faded away and Erhune became depressive. Thinking she could never manage anything, all she did was only staying in her den and she refused to go on her Search.
One day, a traveling Guardian came in their camp and stayed for while. He was a runecrafter and an enchanter. Fascinated by him, Erhune went out of her room and asked him some questions about his job. He only stayed a few days, but that was enough for Erhune to fall in love with him. When he left the clan, he forget one of his bags and Erhune immediately volunteered to give it bag to him. She followed him, brought him the bag and asked to stay for a while with him. He accepted and they travelled a few days together. But Erhune quickly learned that he was in search for a rare gem to craft a runic ornament for his Chage, who was a dragoness who also was his mate. Erhune, living her first heartache, was once more disappointed in her expectations… The Guardian, who understood her well, talked with her a long time and encouraged her to go on her Search : if she was looking for her place and role in the world, it was with her Charge and of all dragonkind, them Guardians had the best chance to find their place because they were magically and mystically attached to their Charge.
So Erhune, feeling abandoned and loveless, came back to her clan and went on doing nothing all day – but the words of the Guardian were resonating in her head…
Adulthood
The Search
It took years to Erhune to finally decide to go on her Search. She acknowledged years ago that the male Guardian she fell in love with was right, but she was afraid to leave her clan and everything she knew for a dangerous world without knowing if she could survive it.
One day, she saw a Guardian clanmate she had seen as hatchlings coming back in the clan with their Charge found, and it was the realization she needed. She was older than most of Guardians when they go on their Search and did nothing with her life. It was the time to take things in hands.
So she finally decided to go on her Search and left the clan with almost nothing packed, because she was afraid she could change her mind if she took time to prepare herself.
As an adult Guardian dragon, wider and taller than most of the creatures in Sornieth, she quickly understood that even if she wasn’t a warrior, if she was cautious and flied high most of the time, she shouldn’t have anything to worry about.
Her Search took a long time. That’s here that she took the habit of flying during tempests : it was reminder her of her home in the Stormcatcher’s land. One day, exhausted after a long and fierce storm, she took shelter in an old mine in the flank of a mountain. By exploring it a little, she caused a wall to crackle and reveal a strange hidden room where there only was a metal chest in which she found a strange-looking magic egg-shaped stone. She followed her instinct until this very instant, and when she put her eyes on it, she had the satisfying impression that the world became full and that she had a place in it. She immediately understood what it meant to her and carefully took her Charge with her. Until there, she had always thought that her Charge would be another dragon that would have been her future mate, but there, she understood that it wasn’t for her. She had the feeling that the stone was going to help her to finally do something herself.
At that very moment, the male Guardian she met in her past showed up. He was looking for that stone, which, according to him, was the property of an ancient and rather unknown enchanter who had crafted a few very personal enchanted objects. He wanted it in order to complete the ultimate enchantment he was crafting for his mate. He left her once more to complete his masterpiece and give it to her. Erhune, feeling she owed him something but wouldn’t have given him the stone whatever could have happen, offered him to go with him to his home. She wasn’t in love with him anymore – her teenage age was far away behind her – but as she found her Charge and it being what it was, she felt like she had to be a runecrafter and enchanter too. So she offered him to take her as his apprentice, in exchange of what she would lend him her stone. He accepted, knowing it was the only way to have the stone that was the ultimate tool he needed, and besides of that he was happy to transmit his crafting knowledge.
They travelled together once more. But when they finally arrived at his home, after years of researches for him, they found his mate at death’s door because of a terrible illness. She was living only to see once more her mate, and despite all the efforts Erhune and him deployed to cure her, waiting had consumed all her forces and a few hours after their arrival, she died.
The Guardian male was devastated with sorrow and stayed next to his mate during days, unable to move nor speak. Erhune did what she could : she used the materials he had in his workshop and the instructions she could read to craft the more majestic gravestone she could. Then she dug the hole and tried her best to convince the Guardian to go through his mourning process, but he was desperately trying to keep his mate’s corpse with him. Erhune showed him the gravestone, and then he shut up totally, like if he realized something. He spend the whole day modifying it and expanding it. After hours, he called Erhune and told her he didn’t want to live anymore, now that both his reason to live and only love ween’t anymore, and that he would like her to take all of his knowledge and materials, in exchange of her promise to put him in the same grave than her mate and to make sure their grave stone was remaining untouched for years. Erhune, a lump in her throat, accepted, and then, during hours, he showed her all that he hadn’t written about runecrafting by finishing his own gravestone part, and then asked her to live alone with his deceased mate in their grave.
Erhune let the night pass and at dawn, she found him dead too, at the side of his mate. She did as he asked and put the gravestone. Then, she began to learn all she could in his workshop.
Student becoming master
She lived here a long time, working hard and learning. Some days, customers that were having runic objects from him came to ask for a new command, and she explains them what happened to him. She began to take commands when she felt she was ready. That’s here that she understood her runic work had the ability to reveal special powers, because of one of her customers. After a few years, she thought she had learned anything she could here, and left the place in search of more knowledge.
She is always coming back to the house of her master, at least once a year, to maintain the gravestone like new.
She travelled a lot and that life suited her. She met a lot of dragons, and sometimes managed to give them an artefact that was totally meant for them and revealed a personal power, but she was frustrated not to manage to master the process.
She met Birlazi as she was just a child. Erhune was taking rest in her clan and the young Birlazi became absolutely fascinated by her work, that seemed to her absolutely marvellous. She insisted on coming with her and becoming her apprentice. Erhune refused as she was too young, but accepted to help her craft her own runic object. Birlazi was gifted and smart, and together, she worked very well, so well that it appeared that the artefact was so perfectly matching Birlazi that it gave her the power to see how people would be best associated with equipment or other dragons. Despite it, Erhune still refused to take her with her.
Seven years later, the young but self-responsible Birlazi found her during one of her travels and asked her once more to become her apprentice. Glad to see she had the same idea than before, Erhune accepted. Together, they work very well and they are able to give to people the more adapted artefact hey possess.
Five years later, they found Jium, a young Spiral dragon, alone in a hut in the woods. He was learning magic and had just buried his master who died because of the fatigue the overuse of magic imposed on his body. He was a strange young man, very talented, and Erhune couldn’t help making a comparison between his story and hers. She offered him to take him to the nearest clan if he wanted to but Jium asked to rather stay with them and to receive a formation from her. She made him do a few tasks and soon understood he was very capable – himself took great interest in runes. The three of them crafted another artefact for him and after four missed trying, they managed to give him one that was fitting him perfectly. Jium already was a sholar specialized in magic langages, and with it he gained the ability to talk, use and create magic languages instinctively.
Herself and her two students, as well as a few of the dragons they gave an artefact and who entered in resonance with him began to see magic bright-coloured runes appeared on them.
Arrival in the clan
After years of travelling together, Erhune, Jium and Birlazi arrived to our clan. They asked for a shelter for a few days and we gladly accepted. They spend two weeks with us, as Sedewus and Erhune came on together very well and a lot of our clanmates were interested in magic. Elyäh was especially interested for his studies in the runecrafting technique of Erhune that she taught to Birlazi, and they spent a lot of time together. Jium came along great with our Fae sisters, especially Aemyth, and all of us were making great efforts to make them feel happy here.
Elyäh, Sedewus and Aemyth worked a lot with Erhune and her students on her runecrafting, because Elyäh thought he found something in his researches that could help her mastering her talent. They finally manage to understand some part of its functioning, strangely thanks to some rather disturbing Myrteerie’s interventions, and Erhune discovered a whole bunch of new possibilities.
During the time they were working, Alec and Meredith were often coming in the lab and playing around them. They were rather calm hatchlings, but also curious and they showed lot of interest in magic and ancient thing such as the studies subjects of the grown up. Erhune became quite attached to them and as a thank gift, she gave to the brother and the sister her first crafted runic objects made through the new technique their hard work created. Meredith received an ornamental wing ribbon and Alec a monocle. According to Erhune and the new researches, growing up with the object near to them will make the compatibility process more efficient, and they could reveal a personal power more quickly. Erhune also showed the biggest interest in Myrteerie, and soon said he didn’t need her runes as he already had his own power. That’s thanks to him seeing magical fluxes that Elyäh and her had some of their most useful understandings, and because of that and the help the other members of the clan brought that Erhune felt like she owed us something.
That’s why she and her students decided to stay with us for an undefined time, and besides that, she found a close friend in Sedewus and some very attentive students and magician colleagues (not to mention that Birlazi and Elyäh may have had difficulties parting away).
Erhune is actually holding a magic practising and crafting class along with Sedewus teaching history and theory, and as a personal work she tries to craft runic artifacts for each one of us.
We had to make room for them, and Erhune, Jium and Birlazi’s den was the first construction of Hidust and Blazeshade. Erhune made her den in a cavity in the cliff’s heights that she carved to match her preferences, and our architect and our builder, with the help of the whole enthusiastic clan, built a colorful hessian awning and wooden platform in front of it. They linked it with ropes and wood bridges to two big cherry trees growing nearby in which they build wooden and fabric huts for Birlazi and Jium. Finally, they used the form of the cliff to make a stair way until there, using wood to fill in the holes. This had been quite a big construction and a lot of work for everybody, but we are proud to manage it !
