Biography
Divine is the clan's astronomer, arcane ambassador, and a powerful warrior mage. She takes it upon herself to fight the Shade in all of its forms, and protect the night sky she considers her home. As well as melee spells, she knows a few simple ones, such as levitation, extremely basic summoning, and egg incubation. Divine, in fact, was one of the numerous mages that assisted in enchanting the sanctuary's territory to create a floating Wind paradise. Her most powerful gift, though it is not a spell, is a sort of dowsing ability she can use to detect anything Shade-touched, be it creatures, plants, water, relics, if it's Shade-touched, she can find it. Divine uses this gift to rid Sornieth of this disease, worse than Plague, darkness, worse than Shadow. Shade is Arcane's very opposite, and she it more than determined to eradicate it. She watches the night skies like a hawk, finding the void in spaces that there should be stars, and when void finds its way onto her land, she seeks it out and kills it. Her only regret is that she can not fly all the way to space and destroy it all at once, but she makes do with patience and persistence. Her second job is acting as one of the Sanctuary's Arcane representatives, Divine and Myth get along quite well. Myth has the task of representing their flight in Kite's counsel, while Divine controls communication between the sanctuary and the Arcane flight, organizing truces and trades. They get along as friends as well as coworkers, Divine finds Myth's condition intriguing, and Myth is always a "helpful" (uproarious) source of inspiration for the names of new constellations. Since Myth stays up very late, he makes good company for this essentially nocturnal Pearlcatcher, but how late he remains awake pales like birch bark in comparison with the hours Divine keeps. Indeed, the only ones who can match her in a game of all-nighters are the Snappers of the clan, who don't sleep at all. These Snappers; Adventure, Pumpkin, GoodWind, Cairn, and co. are terribly worried about Divine's sleeping tendencies. They spend a portion of the night deciding whose turn it is to bring her blankets and warm goat's milk in an attempt to lull her to sleep, and get her on a more wholesome sleep schedule. |
