Byron & Juliet
Clan founders

Byron was hardly more than a hatchling when he left the nest. He had no gold, no treasure, no clothes upon his back. All that he had going for him were his claws and his wits; these he found to be invaluable as he journeyed across the land of the Windsinger to find a place to call home.

The platinum pearlcatcher had never considered himself to be particularly sociable, preferring to avoid conflict whenever possible. He had very little interest in others, which he later on attributed to the lack of interest his parents and siblings shared with him (a common theme in many flights). So when he flew past a mulberry spiral female tangled up in a tree, he of course paid her no mind. It wasn't his problem, after all. She'd get out eventually. Probably before another dragon noticed her. Probably before a beast were to attack. He found himself turning around before he had even made the conscious decision to help. Thank Plaguebringer that he did, because mere moments after she had been freed, the two found themselves fleeing a pack of qiriq.

They became travel companions. It turned out that she had also recently left her clan in the Ashfall Waste seeking an adventure. Juliet was his complete opposite. She loved life and was full of passion. While he was quiet, contemplative, and reserved, she was loud, impulsive, and fiery. It took some time for him to open up to her, but it took no time at all for him to fall in love with her.

When asked the inevitable question, "Who confessed first?", Juliet always laughed.

"He did, of course!" she'd say. "With those longing eyes and lingering touches. All I did was return the sentiment."

The pair found themselves settling down to raise their first nest in the Windswept Plateau. Their second clutch followed soon after. They were happy enough, but something wasn't quite right.

"You know, I never meant to stay here," Byron told his mate one day as the two dragons watched their hatchlings play in the field just outside their clan.

"What? I was staying here for you!" Juliet replied.

As soon as Caidence, Alwyn, Rowan, Cordelia, and Wyatt were old enough to leave the nest, their parents once more took to the sky, seeking out their next adventure.

Most dragons avoided the Scarred Wasteland, but Byron and Juliet were not most dragons. They visited all eleven domains before deciding to call the Blight Sanctum their home. Zeria was already near hatching when they decided to settle under Plaguebringer, so they had to find a clan quickly.

Despite the population of the undesirable land, this proved quite difficult to do. Plague dragons were slow to trust outsiders, and the couple was always met with an unfriendly (un)welcome as they petitioned clans. After a particularly cold encounter that involved being chased halfway across the Boneyard, Byron had enough.

"Why don't we start our own clan?"

It was hard, dangerous work. In the early days, they questioned whether they had made the right choice, especially with Juliet's love of hatchlings. Juliet invited her hatchlinghood friend to join them. Rivin became their first clan member. Zeria chose to stay with her parents and help raise the little ones. Tryst's daughter joined them not long after, bringing her mate Acai. Soon, their small clan became a power of its own, with dragons from far and wide joining, visiting, leaving, and sending letters. The founding couple swore that they would always welcome those who passed through, regardless of flight allegiance. All that mattered was that they were safe, their children had a home, and that love lived in the Scarred Wasteland.
