Biography
WATER SUBSPECIES: Trench Dwellers
Species: Any except Tundras, Coatls & Wildclaws
Colors: Midnight 1 & 2, Blue-Aqua OR Midnight 3
Genes: Poison or Skink/Toxin or Spinner/Glimmer, Spines, Underbelly, Runes (no midnight)
Creator: MusicalMaladies
Deep in the Leviathan Trench, dragons dwell in the dark. Shifting, stirring, lurking. These "Trench Dwellers" as they have been come to known, are guardians of the deep and some of the fiercest and most vicious dragons seen in the Tidelord's domain. Where food and resources are scarce, these dragons have developed certain adaptations to their harsh home. Their claws and spines have sharpened; their bodies have changed over time to withstand the intense pressure of the deep sea. Instead of sight, Trench Dwellers sense changes in the water pressure and currents. They also have acute hearing, said to be able to hear prey from up to a mile away.
Since in the deeps no light dare venture, they create their own with bioluminescence. This can be seen in the hypnotizing blue patterns adorning their wings and bodies. Female Trench Dwellers also have light-based lures atop their heads to help attract unwary prey, lying in wait and striking at the opportune moment. The cost of all these adaptations unfortunately, is their lack of eyesight. Most Trench Dwellers are born blind or with the ability to only see small distances in dim lighting. Bright lights and sudden loud noises will often overwhelm the well-tuned senses of these oceanic predators.
