Freyja and Hilde were the first of the Winterguard, at least as far as anyone knows. Freyja arrived at the Fortress of Ends during a particularly bright meteor shower, and simply sat and watched the sky for a while before beginning her patrol.

And every night since, she has carried on her patrol. At each twilight, she hefts her trident and makes the rounds, drawing a great circle around the Fortress with her pawprints. Some nights are as tranquil as the night she arrived, while others bring howling wind and snow. Regardless, she steps into the night and watches. Outsiders to the Winterguard aren't clear on whether she and her brethren are keeping something out, or keeping something in, but most nights do not bring danger or violence.

She is as steady as they come, and much less prone to fire and outbursts than her partner, Hilde. That said, Freyja's trident is far from decorative, and when she is called upon her calm turns to deadly power.
