Animated coli sidebars by Nirwana
There is a great difference between a dragon who lived long and only ever cared for one place, and a dragon who lived long and has seen the whole world. Neldarvan - much to his own dismay - counts to the second group.

He was born to relatively wealthy parents on the Starfall Isles, his father a native, his mother originally from the Sunbeam Ruins. For the purpose of good trade, the family moved to the Tangled Woods when Neldarvan was very young. He barely remembers the Starfall Isles, and his early life was formed by dark forests drenched in moonlight, by trickery and intrigue. But he loved this place, and when his parents moved back in Neldarvan's youth, he himself decided to stay in the Tangled Woods and become a scholar.

Learning about the history and magic of Sornieth, it was no surprise that he planned to travel around to see the wonders he had read about during his studies. For that, he would need to be well prepared not only in his mind but also in regards to his body. He learned to fight with various teachers, finally developing his own signature of fighting with a light sword, though his fighting could be described much rather as a mesmerising dance, beguiling his enemies before they have the chance to strike.

His knowledge of the languages of Sornieth is grand, thus he had no difficulties when communicating with strangers from afar as he began his journey. He saw temples, ruins, libraries, shrines, even stayed in faraway monasteries on the top of the world if it meant knowledge. But he still is never ruthless or impolite in his quest for unriddling Sornieth's wonders, he's ever the kind gentleman that others enjoy the company of. Yet still, he never dwelt much in one place, and very few have truly become friends to him. That changed when he found a task: to unriddle the secrets of an artefact he had merely read about, a golden lotus-flower that kept the light of Lightweaver herself inside it.

He had heard whispers about a Golden Crow during his stays in the Tangled Wood, and immediately realised the connection between the artefact and that entity. His quest to find the place the flower was being held at was disturbed by many an unwanted interaction with shade-infested dragons, but finally, he managed to make his way to Arvarinar. He came at the best time imaginable, for it was then that the dragons that had recently come here were starting to realise what greatness this island held. As he arrived at the southern coast, the sky was blackened and manifestations of the Shade attacked the tower he would later know as the Auroral Archives. He came to fight alongside the resident dragons, and they were victorious.

The others were confused by the arrival of yet another new dragon, and Neldarvan was confused by the fight he had just witnessed. Soon it became clear to all of them that it was nothing less than fate that drew all these dragons together at this exact point of time.

The rediscovery of the Redwood Shrine and the Temple of the Golden Crow were events that had a great impact on Neldarvan. He did not doubt for a second that he would have to settle here and study the place and its history. So much has been lost in the books he had read, so much had to be re-introduced to the academics of his time.

He proves to be a valuable member of the Golden Light Sages, and teaches languages and swordfighting to anyone who wishes to be taught. So far, this offer has been accepted by one dragon, a young Imperial, who in return decided to write down the stories of Neldarvan's travels and has become very dear to him. Most of his time is spent in a study close to the Redwood Shrine, though he realises that, in order to be a valuable member to the Sages, he needs to attend their meetings and spend time in conversation with them. Mostly, however, he keeps to himself, tired from his travels and in need of concentration for his further studies.
