TropicPearl
Merchant of Oysters & Pearls

TropicPearl was born a sickly hatchie, his white feathers dull and his skin prone to scaring. The scaring would heal in an opalized form, deadened to the sensation of pain or touch. His parents would tell him a tale for why his wounds would opalize, that in his previous life he had been a Pearlcatcher that had died at sea. If he could find the pearl he lost he would once again have his soul and his body would become healthy once again. He believes that tale with all of his heart and has sought out pearls ever since.

Yet he feared diving and the hard and rough work to get pearls, for such work would risk tearing his already delicate skin. Thus he made a partnership with OpalJolt, who despite sharing a similar disease to his own, was not concerned about the risks it posed and relished the fight of the waves. In turn, he sells the fresh seafood and pearls she brings up in the Abyssal Acropolis. Well at least the pearls he rejects for not being his own, of course. But TropicPearl is ever hopeful that one day OpalJolt shall bring up his pearl from the sea, and secretly believes she shall find her own.

He spends his spare treasure from his stall buying pearls from other divers and new chemical remedies to help heal his opal scars. Some dragons and dragonesses frequently come to his stall for beauty advice since he has learned much over a lifetime of vanity. He enjoys compliments immensely, be it about his pearl collection or his looks, and is always happy to spare time gossiping about the newest mane product or scale shine.

TropicPearl is friends with the nervous faerie, WillowShade, who he discusses makeup and beauty magic with- mostly so that Willow can better improve her abilities to please her mistress. He is also friends and vendor of pearls to VolcanicRift, who uses his pearls in making jewelry. He is rather uncomfortable with how touchy she is, and her desire to pull in crowds to sell wares despite his anxiety. Yet he believes she is doing this in an innocent fashion, though his antennae tell him otherwise.

"Fresh oysters and bright pearls! Come, buy the treasure chests of the sea, and see what they hold!"
