Personality Almost as old as dragonkind itself, Alakai has seen much in her lifetime. With this comes her great wisdom that all dragons in the lair and even some outside of the lair seek. She also is the keeper of prophecy, being aware of what she and the other water dragons foresee in Sornieth's future. The water dragons in the lair consult with her and ask for her interpretations. She isn't like most pearlcatchers, valuing gossip, but instead value wisdom and foresight. With that being said she's far from dull and boring. Alakai prefers to be professional around other dragons and so she doesn't show her inner self to most. The ones that do know her know her for her humor and optimism in all things as she knows that dwelling on the bad things in life will make you miserable. When she gets something in her head her determination and passion is that of a fire dragon. Her enthusiasm drives her to achieve anything she's determined to do as she will never back down in the face of adversity due to her optimism, instead she will just laugh it off. She's a very unique individual with a definite skill when it comes to creativity and intelligence, it's not everyday a pearlcatcher puts their pearl in a pouch instead of struggle to hold it during their daily routine. She loves to learn from and observe others as she always is interested in different cultures each flight and each dragon possesses. This has lead to her knowledge and her experience in these different cultures, her wisdom. History Alakai was born in a water clan to two pearlcatchers, Temperance, and Mender with one older sister, Mitsumushi, and a younger brother, Bosphorus. Her parents loved them all deeply. Unfortunately though this new family was not together for too long. Her brother went to an allied clan while he was quite young and she followed pursuit and left too after her lair being cramped leaving her sister and parents behind. She she left not knowing what was past the waves she called home wanted to see what was beyond the currents and travel around Sornieth. These travels landed her in a plague clan where she learned to be fit and the best as she can be because it was truly "survival of the fittest" out there. During her stay in plague she met another pearlcatcher, Tempest, who she would take as a lifelong mate. She loved him with all her heart and together they started a large family. She watched each one of her children grew up and left for their own adventures as she was too busy with her family to quench the desire to explore. One of her sons did stay with her, Raekon, to help with the ever growing family she did have. One day the leadership decided that they were going to move from living in plague territory to lightning and it was a welcome change for her. Although she spent much of her life in plague it really didn't fit her personality and she wanted to travel anyway. There she continued to have her family and adapted to the high tech world she now lived in. During her stay in lighting her mate became restless as he no longer fit into the new realm. After a long while he finally snapped and left her with their last children. She was heartbroken as they shared that special bond but understood that you need to find where you belong. She vowed to never take another mate and to this day she kept her word. Over time the work ethic was killer, no one could keep up with the growing clan and then it hit, a famine. It caused dragons to be lost but she pushed through it. After a long time of starvation during the rule of her leader a group of frustrated dragons rebelled in order to change life in that clan. Alakai prophesied that it would tear the clan apart and it did just that. The battles were bloody, so many lives were lost in the chaos. Dragons fled and families broken up, lost forever. Alakai was part of a major group that fled. She had no attachments to anyone but her son, Raekon, in the lair and together those two along with Narjio, Qanthic, and their youngest daughter, Nekyta, (among countless others) fled for another home for a better life. They settled down here in this clan after their journey to get away. As time went by and it was actually time to make them official members of the clan both Raekon and Nekyta settled in an allied water clan in hopes to still be near but not live with their parents. She stayed in the wind clan however finding where she belonged all this time, the love for traveling palpable. She was the second oldest in the clan and the clan respected their elders so it was a pleasant difference in her life as she was valued quite important. After a long time being by herself, what seemed like forever to her, she saw a familiar face join her windy home. After staring she embraced the stranger. It was her old mate, Tempest. After catching up and thrilled about seeing each other after so long they agreed once again to take upon the mantle of mates to each other once more. Her Pearl Her pearl, just like most other pearlcatchers' is a symbol of her long life and all the memories she has had during their time. It is actually quite large due to her various experiences and her age, she usually wins any sort of size contest as she has always tried to put everything into her pearl. Over time, as she aged her pearl started tinting yellow and although she has yet to figure out why she actually prefers it as it stands out from most other's pearls. She guards it with her life as it is, in essence, her life and it is always on her, be it in her claws or in her pouch. It's extremely special to her as it's core was created when dragonkind was young and so it too has seen much happen in it's lifetime. |
