The only reason they could exist today as they are was because their mother had had the privilege of knowing freedom. And she did not hesitate to remind them at any point in time of this sheer fact. She never passed up an opportunity to tell them stories, of her origins, and why it was a miracle they were allowed to exist like this at all.
Her stories of escaping shackles and obligations sparked something inside her children, as was to expected. One of them showed disdain for the Plaguelands, knowing that it had been exactly this place their mother had tried to escape. The other simply acquired a taste for the freedom she spoke of. The other simply accepted their fate, knowing they would never be able to even touch a fragment of the freedom the other's took for granted. 
Frelsi is the one who has acquired a taste for freedom, and has grown weary of always seeing the same dreary landscape, day in, day out. There were other things out there to discover, things that didn't carry gloom and doom. Things that didn't rely on decay and death. And they were determined to find all of it.
