Cosmos was not born into the clan where he currently resides. His parents, Merlin and Kira, were adventurous dragons who moved quickly from flight to flight. The danger from moving flight to flight was the fun part for them, never the deterrent. Both got hurt many of times but they were powerful mages in their own perspective magic. Merlin was skilled in Shadow magic and Kira was skilled in Ice magic. This fact helped them greatly whenever they were to get into any trouble. They often reminisced about all their adventures when there was a dull moment. They laughed for hours talking about all of their narrow escapes from guards and knights, even kings!

While in the Light flight, a flight they only visited every so often, they both realized something. Their life was fun and full of love for each other, but there was one thing missing. Hatchlings. When they had gotten together, they both said they didn’t want hatchlings until the time was right. They realized that they had had their fun as young dragons but it was time for their next step. They both were ready to take on a large responsibility in their otherwise danger filled lives. Why not have hatchlings now, in one of the most medically advanced flights in the whole Sornieth?

About five days later, they had light hatchlings. Cosmos was one of them. They noticed that he was one of the more rambunctious of the group. His light magic developed faster and faster with each waking moment of his life. Their other children were much calmer than him, but he seemed to be more wild. With this rambunctious side as a young hatchling showing through, this became a cause for concern. His parents knew that if he couldn’t control it now as a child, this would result in a lot of dragons potentially getting hurt. Kira and Merlin had discussed staying in the Light flight until their hatchlings were adult dragons during the nesting. Keeping things the same, they knew, helped dragons develop better and feel attached. Cosmos needed something else entirely, though.

After preparing for a day, the two and their hatchlings set out for Starfall Isles, the home of the Arcane flight. That flight was the most skilled in magic and developing mages. If two of the best mages of their perspective flights couldn’t help their son, someone in the Arcane flight could. They considered letting him hone his magic in the Light flight before leaving, but the problem was most Light flight dragons used their magic for more refined ways. They knew Cosmos was not meant for that.

Once they arrived in Starfall Isles after a long trek through other flights, they felt the magic thriving from the nearby clans. Neither dragons were from the Arcane flight, but all dragons who come to the Starfall Isles feel the magic. Cosmos felt it too, causing the little hatchling to start omitting light beams. He laughed as they flew out of his claw tips and as his siblings and parents tried to stop him. It wasn’t that he enjoyed the chaos, no, it was rather he enjoyed the power he felt from magic. It made him feel not only powerful but at peace. He couldn’t quite control it yet but he knew that he loved the feeling of it.

After a long afternoon of trying to get Cosmos’ magic to cease, it finally did. Both parents and hatchlings were exhausted. He was so volatile and incredibly hard to deal with in terms of his magical abilities. He needed a teacher, someone to guide him. The clan they were nearing could help him. The organization known as Magin was located in the clan. They were renowned for their magic apprenticeship programs.

The next day, Kira and Merlin handed over Cosmos to Magin. Cosmos was upset and crying for his parents, but they weren’t leaving him exactly. Apprenticeships required Cosmos to live with his master, but he could visit his family as frequently as he wanted, just not for a long time. Cosmos, as a child, didn’t know this of course. It took some time to calm him down and to make him listen, days in fact. The masters after this noticed his budding personality to be one that they didn’t find desirable in their organization. He was arrogant and brash during training. There was one master, though, that stood up with him consistently. This master saw Cosmos’ need to protect those he loves, the need for attention. This master’s words kept him in the organization until he was fully done training.

Many years later Cosmos emerged from the organization. He was a young dragon with cloaks of purple and blue covering him. It was a very hard many years for Cosmos. He had to get used to a whole new set of people and learn to concentrate on his magic. As a hatchling, this was hard and for him nearly impossible. Because of this, the masters of the organization told his parents he was far different than they’ve ever seen before. Cosmos prided himself in being different when he found out what his masters through of him. His masters weren’t too keen on him being so arrogant, but that didn’t stop him from being so. Cosmos knew he had immense power and he wasn’t going to not flaunt it.

Currently, his parents were travelling the Sornieth again and his siblings weren’t close to him anymore. Cosmos decided the best place for him was to stay in Starfall Isles. It was the only home he knew, even if he was a light dragon. Cosmos travelled to many clans until finally finding the right one for him. It was a clan full of life, dragons, and with an appreciation for the larger than life like he considered himself to be. He could show off his powers there, but he could also have the chance for companionship. His childhood was lonely, now he could be free to be with who he pleased. The thought encouraged him to do good for his clan and try not to let his arrogance get the best of him.
