He finds delight in others' demise, especially when it is caused by him or his familiar. He is cruel, calculating, cunning and clever, and far smarter than his age should allow.
Backstory
~~~
Akuma was wandering aimlessly through the bamboo forests, when he saw a strange shadow flitting throughout the stalks. Curious, he chased after it, darting back and forth to avoid trees, soon coming to a stop as the shadow changed. It became darker, and started roiling and spewing black fog. Akuma shrieked and spun around, his claws scraping at the ground, but he wasn't fast enough. The shadow grew behind him, and as Akuma looked over his shoulder, it swooped down upon him, swallowing him entirely.

Akuma found his familiar before he was shade-touched. He was in the mire hunting for wild miths, when the swamphaunt kelpie scared away the mith Akuma had been stalking. Akuma had flown away with the kelpie watching him, and later the horse-like creature appeared with a drowned mith on it's back. Akuma took it, and shared it with the swamphaunt. He named the kelpie Fathom, and since then they have been good friends.
