Gorgon isn't really insane though other dragons believe he is. He's always looking at his pearl and talking to himself. When he's in an actually conversation with another dragon he tends to stare off just over their shoulder as if looking at something that isn't really there.
The reality of the situation is that he was abandoned as a hatchling and got lost while following some strange white flashing lights out of his Light home and into Shadowbinders realm. He barely left with his life and was found by a Fire clan who was going to have him killed for their deity before instead shipping him off to Death Clan as a way of creating peace between the two clans.
Gorgon's experiences has made him reclusive with only a few dragons actually believing in his abilities. Even some of his fellow seers look down on him.
He went back to Shadow to check about a prophesized dragon against his wishes- as going to that pine forest still scares him. In truth, he's rather anxious rather than insane. His visions also often leave him barely able to walk and he's rather twitch-y afterwards too, which only fuels other dragons into thinking something's not right with him.
