Biography
Every clan knows that the propagation of their members is key to their success. The most powerful clans are those that training the most dragons to serve their deities or produce the most numerous and beautiful hatchlings. A clan that can routinely hatch out dazzling dragons is respected among dragonkind. Some species would see the selling of their offspring for the purpose of producing even more beautiful eggs or to serve another clan's deity has morally corrupt; dragons see it as a normal part of their culture.
Nathaniel was bred to be gorgeous. His first few days were surrounded by beauty. His parents worked tireless to make Nathaniel and his siblings impress when they eventually went for sale. Visitors would come and go, browsing through his clan's lair. They took notes of the nests and hatchlings, comparing them to pictures of members of their own clan. Nathaniel watched, and he learned. Visitors would pause over him, scrutinizing his body from snout to tail, only to move on to the next hatchling down the line. He matured without even being sold and began to combat local monsters and creatures for treasure and materials to be sold. Eventually he paid his own way out of his hatchery.
He was now a free dragon, but his experiences as a hatchling had changed him. Nathaniel knew there was only one thing that truly mattered in the world: beauty. Now an independent dragon, he was free to explore the world. He traveled the different realm, seeking out glittering crystals, radiant plantlife, ivory bones and refractive geodes. True to his flight, he became a collector. Anything beautiful was to be treasured; anything less was trash. He met other dragons who shared his passion and began to sell and trade with him. This was the start of Nathaniel's career as a beauty merchant, which has led him to the Ashfall Waste in search of the rare minerals and ores embedded in the obsidian earth.
