The glory of gardening: hands in the dirt, head in the sun, heart with nature. To nurture a garden is to feed not just on the body, but the soul. - Alfred Austin

Born a mirror in the Wandering Contagion, Gingersnap's early life was one typical of a hatchling raised in a mirror pack. Scrounging for food, struggling through the sparce landscape for any kind of entertainment, and just a lot of play fighting to learn to defend herself filled most of the young dragon's days. The evenings though were dedicated to lessons from her father, Forneus, the clan's translator and teacher. Through his teachings, she learned to speak multiple languages of the various breeds before fate intervened for the young mirror, sending her away from the Wastelands and into the Windswept Plateau. As was custom of hatchlings within the Wandering Contagion, Gingersnap and her fellow hatchlings often dared one another to wander farther and farther from their own pack's lair to the outer reaches of the neighboring lands. For Gingersnap, the Reedcliff Ascent was the closest foreign territory to her own home and it was almost a dare to jump from the ledge that served as the boundary and glide into the Windswept Plateau. Though her own glide went smoothly into the plateau, a rough landing made it impossible for her to scale the Steppes's back into her native land.
Separated from her own pack and growing increasingly hungry, Gingersnap was forced to abandon the Steppes to look for food and a place to rest during the nighttime hours. Her struggles eventually lead her to a portion of the Steppes with a bamboo forest and a few fruit-trees growing along it. It was here she was discovered by the guards Borealis and Talitha who were on patrol duty and who quickly took the young dragon into their fold and eventually to the nursery of the Passus Canorous's troupe. Wishing to fit in with the large tundra population of her new home, Gingersnap decided to make the transformation into a tundra and upon discovering a new diet from her new form, was sent to the gardens to help many of those who run the largest food source for the troupe's many herbivores.
