Koma Inu
狛犬
こまいぬ

TRANSLATION: Goryeo (an ancient Korean dynasty) dog
ALTERNATE NAMES: shishi (stone lion); refers only to the left-hand koma inu
HABITAT: shrines, temples, and holy areas
DIET: carnivorous

APPEARANCE: Koma inu are noble holy animals which are usually employed as guardians of holy areas. They can range in size from a small dog to the size of a lion, and due to their resemblance to both creatures, are often called lion dogs in English. They have thick, curly manes and tails, powerful, muscular bodies, and sharp teeth and claws. Some koma inu have large horns like a unicorn on their heads, however many are hornless.

BEHAVIOR: Koma inu are fierce and noble beasts. They act like watchdogs, guarding gates and doorways and preventing the wicked from entering. They live together in male-female pairs, and are always found together. In their pairs, the female usually guards those living inside of the place they guard, while the male guards the structure or place itself.

Meeting the Shadowy Moon
"This can't be right."
Kogami glanced around and noticed that this place was not the briefing room. Maybe the guards got it wrong. Around him was weapons of all sorts organized neatly along the wall and soon the door opened and a dark imp strutted in. His metallic body shimmered slightly as the torch light slicker. His runes pulsed with light with each step and gave a soft glow.
"Hmm, so you are him."
"Excuse me? Sorry, but I was supposed to be heading to the briefing room but it seems that-"
Before a reply was made blue flames shot out making Kogami drop to the floor pulling his wings around him. AS soon as he felt the heat dissipate he snapped his leathery wings open to clear the smoke and the other dragon was already upon him.
"Prepare yourself! Let see these oh so great fighting skills!"
"What the heck is your freaking problem!?!?!"
Kogami growled deeply and swung his tail fast to meet the other dragons face but to his surprise the other made quick adjustments and got passed his tail, knocking him down to the floor once again.
"Nothing really I'm just wondering why Nura would pick a weakling like you." He said nonchalantly looking at his claws as if it was more interesting than him.
Kogami lunged and soon it was close combat, blow by blow was met with the same force until Kogami noticed that the other dragons runes started to glow and moved to his claws. As the next blow came he felt a hot shock to his hand. He snapped his wings hard to give him space to make sure his hand was still there.
"What was that?!"
"Oh, that?" He pointed to Ko's burnt hand and then gave a horrid smile of satisfaction. He flexed his claws as the heat could easily be seen resonating off of them.
It's a small trick I learned from taming my demon powers. Which the only reason Nura would even look at you is if he knew you had some sort of spiritual power to you. So far it has been a big waste of my time."
He flicks his tail and wings and soon a dark presence was felt. His wing started to disappear along with the rest of his body to where he seem to be swallowed by the darkness.
This is the ultimate bond between you and your partner. Which is called equipt or bond."
Kogami took a step back to ready himself, all the shadows around him seem to come alive and the presence was heavy. He scanned hard until he felt something ram into his side sending sliding across the floor and a disembodied laugh followed and it seems to be everywhere. Dark purple eyes could be seen flickering in and out of the smokey shadows.
Getsuga has been my partner for years now. He is an umbra wolf hence the reason for all the shadows.
The other dragon struck out again grabbing on to horns forcing his head to the ground. He materialized with his hind leg holding his neck and horns. The dark imps hard sapphire eyes glared down at him, hard and filled with pity.
Enough is enough....
Kogami twisted his tail and caught the imp off guard by wrapping it around the has of his neck and yanking hard. Tossing him off of him but not without scratching his neck with his claws. Soon he was upon the other imp ready to strike. Out of desperation to make kogami back up, he shot another round of blue flames. But Ko had other plans he activated his barrier and moved forward without hesitation. He walks through the flames with ease until he loomed over this other dragon. As the flames stopped his eyes glowed a deep purple and He felt himself being lifted off the ground. Kogami lunged to take the final blow.
Ko enough.
His claws stopped inches from the other dragon before turning his head to the door. A silvery imp with dark mane and wings came in but was as quite as a moonless night. His golden eyes had an eery glow as he approached the two of them. His ebony armor gleaming in the torchlight. Ko's eyes lost its glow and the other dragon was dropped to the floor.
Zan what have I told you about fighting others without reason? And don't give me any excuses. Plus I wouldn't mess with this one too much.
And why is that? He spat picking himself up off the floor rubbing his arms slightly while glaring at the new imp.
He comes from the shade blood family."
Zan stiffened suddenly and turned to Kogami again his sapphire eyes scanning him.
I don't believe you.
Believe what you want but I need to have the meeting and you are disrupting it once again. His eyes flashed dangerously.
Any more fighting cause by you and its extra training lessons."
Hai sensei." Zan muttered bitterly before shaking himself off and walking to the door. Soon a dark shape materialized from the wall and a dark wispy wolf took shape. He bowed his head to them before following Zan to the door.
"Zangetsu."
"what?"
"My name. You twit, is Zangetsu. Welcome to the night parade of dragons.
