There have been stories told of a terrible Plague guardian who stormed, ravaging, into the lands of the Grovewarden- and was tamed by a hainu's call. She was massive, they claim- with blood red flags like a dark cloud setting over the forest, scales streaked with warpaint of bones, tail a red so bright it seemed to make the blood it dragged through glow- murderous, ruthless, unstoppable. Clan after clan lost their lives to her rampage before she came across one that held within its ranks a gentle hainu, hiding itself in the shadows as her killings continued. It hid, whimpering, as she came across it- and stopped.

The clan had earned a protector like they had never known, that day. With the hainu realized as her charge, she too adopted the clan itself, and all the brutality of her nature turned against their enemies. The bond they shared was inseparable. With the beast tamed and her power at their fingertips, her clan grew bolder by the day- claiming more and more territory, the hainu's face as their flag.

(Story possibilities: The hainu is killed, she wears its skin in homage. The hainu is alive and she moved with it. The hainu died but she protects its puppies, torn apart by the realization that none of them are her new ward. The hainu is kidnapped.)
