Cold. Darkness. Noises. Then silence. He knew these things all too well. Thoughts and emotions spiraled around inside his head, weaving multiple strings of mostly incomprehensible feelings and understanding as he slowly, gradually, against the stiffening cold, opened his eyes to peer at the dark elliptical walls of his...something. He did not know the actual term for it, but oh yes, he knew what it was; he did not know how he knew, but somewhere among the strings of consciousness, he made the connection that this was indeed his thing, and, with this understanding, he also understood that he needs to break out of it.

But...Is that really necessary? Can't I just rest in here? It is dark and cold. There is nothing, but then...Why am I here? Am I here for something? What if by something, I don't know what, there is more than this? What if...Hah, why do I keep having these thoughts?

After much deliberation, he decided that it was better to at least check what was beyond the walls of this compressive space than to just die from the wretched cold without even answering his questions.
