There may have been a time in which Tesla was someone a bit different than how he is now, but today he is Tesla and he will not accept anything else. As for why he stopped at The Fable, nobody knows and nobody asks out of respect for him and what he's done for the clan since he arrived. Before he had arrived there was only Ceres and parental dragons looking after hatchlings, which wasn't always bad as there was never that many around the clan, but it was nice to have an extra pair of hands around. He can teach proper lessons to the hatchlings, and tell them stories about the Southern Icefield. Some might argue that he gets very excitable at times over his teaching and storytelling, perhaps in his own way he's just as innocent as the children he looks after, making him an ideal caretaker that is easy for worried dragons to trust.
