Smokey was named after the first gemstone he mined out on his own, Smokey Quartz. However, Smokey doesn't mind having his named shortened, or being referred to with a nickname: Smokey, Smoke, Q... He has a few that he's used to. He has trouble hearing, so it's best to speak up around him.

Smokey sticks out against the bright Arcane landscape, and is a formidable presence. He is often finding spots in the territory to dig out for rare stones and gems, and as a result is in charge of supervising the digging of new dens and a tunnel system underneath the Clan. He has the aid of Kerren, and has been teaching her everything he knows.

One of Smokey's strengths other than digging knowledge is a vast mental library of gemstones and related materials and can identify them by taste, smell and appearance. He often has to nudge Cassius from the gemstone hoards, which mildly irritates him. But otherwise Smokey is a dragon that gets excited to teach others his craft, and spread knowledge.
