"Oh! Pretty!"
For a reason that she can no longer remember, Spring, along with her good friend Sunbeam, were asked to leave the lair that they'd come to love in the Viridian Labyrinth. They found refuge in a shelter where dragons who had been cast out of their lairs but weren't ready to go to the deities quite yet lived. The shelter dragons stayed in their newfound home until they found a clan that was willing to take them in. Spring and Sunbeam watched many of the dragons come and go before they were able to find their own clan. Spring was the first to be taken in. At first, she was thrilled to have found a new home with many friendly dragons, but after just a day, she began missing the scent of her old friend, whose face and even his name she couldn't remember but whose smell had become so dear to her. She missed him to the point where her usual energy and friendliness disappeared and she could only curl up in the shadows and pine. The clan's leaders saw this and inquired about the matter. "Friend," Spring had said to their query. "Miss him." A bit confused, the Skydancers had gone back to the shelter to inquire about her missing friend, and were happy to find that not only did the current inhabitants know who he was, but that he hadn't left yet. They brought him back to their lair, where Spring and Sunbeam had a joyful reunion that included much tumbling and embracing. The two Tundras rarely left each others' sides since then, both having felt the pain of their separation, however brief it was. They folded into the their new clan well, getting to know the scent of each dragon better and better with each passing day, enjoying being the targets of the clan's pranksters - much to the others' confusion - and delighting at meeting and playing with every new hatchling. Much time passed, one peaceful day after another. However, something felt off. There wasn't anything overtly wrong with the Wild Beat Clan, and yet the two had a feeling that they didn't quite fit. It has come to the point where they are preparing to leave the clan that has cared for them over the past few moons, bolstering their strength and stocking up on supplies as they prepare for a trek to find a clan that they felt they truly belong in. They know that it is possible that they will be split up on their journey, but both are willing to take the risk to find a place they can wholeheartedly call home and enjoy being in each others' company until then. After some time, they were indeed able to find a new place to call home. There, Spring went from having a plain body and wings that changed color ever so slightly depending on the light to having a mottled body and wings. They enjoyed their time with their new clan and had thought that they had found a place where they could stay for the rest of their time on Sornieth. However, after some time, the clan wished to move to lands that belonged to a different deity, and they didn't wish to have a great number of dragons with them for the move. They found themselves cast out once again, and, not knowing what else to do, they returned to the Wild Beat Clan. The Wild Beats of course welcomed them back, but the pair still felt that they didn't belong. Once again, they find themselves searching for that place where they feel at home. |
