Chapter 7 -- Guardian

Despite what many other dragons believe, all Guardians do not necessarily have to tirelessly cease and desist all activities and desires to give it up to protect their charge, in any meaning of the word. All Guardians, no matter how deluded, agree upon the idea that the Charge was by no means a natural instinct, but more of a false necessity-- while being a common fact known by said breed, they are still forced to look for and after their charge and needlessly protect it, even at the cost of disrupting the greater good.

An interesting example of this first occurring itself is written in the myth The Search of Trials. In it, one of the first few Guardians created by the Whispers of the Riddle, the amalgamation of the deep and beseeching element of pure water, much more commonly known merely as the Tidelord, with his informal title the Water God, learns the very hard way.

The protagonist of the myth, Orros, is tasked with the duty of help guiding the lost prophecies back to the surface. While he is grateful and happy with his task, he quickly becomes unnerved after unknowingly listening to the contents of one such prophecy, running away in terror and escaping to the territory of the Light of the Unknown, otherwise known as the Lightweaver, the Light God, and terror to all beings whom have ever been brushed by the dark.

In the territory of She Who Guides the Lost, Orros hides in shame, eventually revealing himself before the mighty Light God, begging for a way to forgive his shame before her Light home. Feeling pity, the Lightweaver took him in as one of he own, albeit only in name, and put upon him another task to be fulfilled.

As the story goes, this new task was to find something cruel and unknowing of his own findings to defend-- though it does not state whether or not it meant from attacks, or defend others from it. Filled with an unknown and frightening feeling upon stumbling on the solution to both his own failure and accomplishment on completing her chosen task, he quickly reported his findings to the Seeker of Sins Unspoken.

Upon completion, the myth abruptly ends before the Light God could reply. Whether this is intentional or not, many reports from Guardians say that the true ending was the reason why The Search and the charge exists. Surprisingly, the Warbler of Quiet Endings has once commented in one of his prophecies of a split timeline of where The Search is abolished permanently, "the crimes of time left ever unspoken, nothing ever remaining unspoken except for a false greeting repeated after generations of indoctrination, flickering ever forth upon seasons and seasons ungrown."

Further inspection and cross referencing shows those words appearing nearly word-for-word in ancient textbooks relating to a specific breed of dragons. Those textbooks have been reclaimed indefinitely for research to help understand future prophecies and past generations.

Donning sharp thorns around her wings, she seeks to strengthen her fragile membrane by jumping off cliffs and achieving sustained flight facing harsh winds in the opposite direction. Her combat prowess is highly ranked, although she is often the loser in most spars. She and her mate, Stark, founded the Havenous Rearing when they were young, battling the wildlife in the desert bluffs who were seeking their cavernous oasis.
