Biography
Lyra's snowy colors and icy garb to would lead one to assume that her element is anything but fire. But alas, her element is fire!
In her youth, she occasionally got into trouble. The onset of her gembond was due to a curse placed on her by Kaith's old rival, Patricia, after Lyra set fire to her collection of tumbleweeds. Despite a stern scolding by Kaith, Lyra maintains that she was double-lucky - not only did she escape the angry Ridgeback alive, but her gembond turned out to be quite pleasing to the eye. Another time, she smoked out Celia's workshop. It was intended as a harmless prank, but caused major damage to delicate and sensitive instrumentation, leading the engineer to dub her an "overgrown poultrygeist."
Justine's arrival put a heavy damper on her desire for mischief. Fire is funny when it's roasting your neighbor's tumbleweeds and nothing else. However, whereas Lyra was happy to be associated with the occasional fiery prank, she doesn't want to be associated with consuming the world in flames.
Lyra has instead acquired an interest in the birds of Sornieth, and has amassed a large collection for her aviary. Inspired by her birds, Lyra has also acquired an interest in singing. She and others say that she has a very pretty voice. Celia, ever bitter and contrarian, calls it "glorified gobbling."
