Biography
Nauta is a powerful warrior, with scales tough as crystal and a fiery passion for battle. She's one of the few defenders of Myura's clan, but she's proven to be all they really need. She often accompanies the Fae leader whenever she leaves the comfort of their lair, and happily allows the tiny dragon to ride on her head.
Despite her impressive strength and intimidating demeanor (which is actually a complete façade), Nauta is incredibly sensitive about the littlest things and has a strong emotional attachment to her grandmother, Livewire, one of the few Plague dragons accepted by Myura since she was a welcome member of the clan before Mojack fell ill. Nauta absolutely loves hatchlings and spends a lot of her free time doting on them in the lair's hatchery.
As the first dragon travellers meet when they come seeking shelter with the clan, Nauta certainly doesn't make a very good first impression. Many explorers have just turned tail and ran upon seeing her strut out of the shadows, chest puffed out and intimidating head held high. Myura insists that she doesn't have to be quite so forceful, and she can maybe have a slightly nicer disposition as the primary clan guard, but she refuses to let up on her intimidation tactics. She's distrustful of outsiders to a fault, and is exceptionally aggressive, sometimes even physically violent, towards dragons that are obvious parasites; she's seen way too many of her friends suffer because of their sadistic methods of reproduction.
Nauta carries numerous, horrific scars from a previous battle she'd rather not talk about. To be completely honest, it was the fault of the Pearlcatcher kind's notorious cowardice, and the reason she strangely lacks such a trait: as an adolescent, she had departed from her birthclan and moved onto another Light lair, wanting to make a name for herself as a guard. The clan she chose to join was uncomfortably close to Beastclan territory, and as such, bloody battles broke out constantly. The young Nauta was commissioned to fight for them in future attacks, and while she eagerly agreed at the time, her gusto evaporated into nothing when she was actually faced by a Harpy warrior.
She ran from the battlefield like a coward, leaving her allies to be slain by the Beastclan army. Two of the vicious feathered warriors followed her and eventually caught up to her mad dash, slamming her into a pillar and digging into her chest with deadly-sharp talons, reaching for her intending to rip out her very heart. She was saved by none other than Myura, who leapt upon one of the creatures and seared them alive with light magic; the other quickly fell to Nauta's own claws. Nauta would've died then and there if it wasn't for Myura's healing magic, and since then, she's vowed to redeem herself by protecting her birthclan.
Since she made this promise, she hasn't allowed herself to show any more cowardice.
Some time back, Nauta was hired by a clan in the Arcane domain (BOTDF, #244187) to help defend them from an oncoming threat. In her absence, a devastated Livewire took up her role as the clan's protector, and proved herself to be just as powerful a fighter as her granddaughter. Despite the great treatment Nauta was given in this clan, she dearly missed her grandmother and wished to return home more than anything. Eventually, the threat was eliminated, and the clan allowed her to come back to her family's loving arms.
