Biography
The First.
First to follow Inanna, first to swear loyalty and submission to her will. First to make a nest with her, and first to curl alongside her in the cool shade of the evening. He is no longer her favored mate, but still he remembers those early days fondly, without bitterness. When she tired of him, did she not find him Geshtinanna? "You need a mate," he recalls the Queen telling him. "Someone to match you, someone to fill your nest with many hatchlings..." Was it Ereshkigel's cool whisper that pointed out the sturdy snapper, her jaw set with determination as she bartered with an imperial over the price of seaberries?
With Geshtinanna he found joy and comfort, and indeed many hatchlings--he sprawls full-length along the damp moss, letting them tumble and tug and mouth along his wings, an ever-patient and willing playmate. All the hatchlings of the lair are as fond of him as he is of them, and are often found tucked under his wing while listening to the stories Geshtinanna brings back from her ceaseless travels. The return of his mate lights his face with gladness, and he treasures the times she tarries in the lair before her next journey.
