Amberine has a peculiar appearance, with a black, tar-like substance covering his body. This is because he is an artificially made dragon, born from tar and amber. He was created by Barathol, a powerful warlock, to be the perfect familiar. With all the powers and intelligence of a real dragon, yet controllable, and legally ownable...? As predicted, Amberine did attain the intelligence of any other dragon, perhaps even higher than average. Because of this, he was quick to wonder about the outside world, and why he was serving this sleazy wizard.

So, one night, he made the decision to flee when Barathol's magical hold on his mind had worn off for the day. He wanted to be a free dragon like everyone else, and make his own way in the world, not toil and slave away fro a lazy warlock. The only thing that still binds him to Barathol is the amulet around his neck, which can never be removed through non-magical means. Should Barathol find Ambering, he could be hypnotized, and brought back to the swamp. This time, with better restraints.
