“A warrior does not give up what he loves, he finds the love in what he does” ╰━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━╯
Something shifts in the Scarred Wasteland, a being born to fight. He has been designed not to love or feel, and yet, the Plaguebringer has made a mistake.
Basilisk paused at the edge of the Shifting Expanse. Abandoned at birth, he has never known love. He stared across the ocean towards the Scarred Wasteland, longing for the red soil and dragons who would kill to survive. He too had slain many a foe to survive in the electric terrain, and wished to escape to a place where everyone had blood on their claws. After a month long trip across many regions, hunting and fighting to survive, he made it. When he first stepped foot on the dry, caked soil, he knew. He knew that this is where he belonged. He felt the thrumming in the planet, as if the region were alive. As he walked, the pounding got louder, when at first it was a murmur, calling to him, beckoning him to the Wyrmwound. Come to us… We welcome you as one of your own… Mother wishes to make you one of her own… And so he trudged, not pausing to rest or eat. Basilisk became a mere shell of his previous self. His desire to answer the voices that spoke to him in the darkest of nights, comforting him, assuring him that Mother would make everything better. Chimera found him collapsed at the Rotrock Rim, dehydrated and exhausted. She dragged him home to the Clan of the Sweeping Desolation, where she took care of him and labored at his side, wishing to see the guardian she had found wake up. And he did, after weeks of losing hope. As he weakly pushed himself to his feet, the imperial jumped up from where she had been laying. “No, stay down. You’ll just hurt yourself even more doing that.” Basilisk obliged silently, resting for several more weeks. He eventually recovered his health, becoming twice the beast he was previously. He rose in the ranks of the clan, and gained enough strength to reveal the General as a shade-ridden, and challenged him for the leadership of the clan. He won the title, and soon everyone reverted to their new lives while the shade-ridden imperial and his mate retreated to the far reaches of the laboratory. He ruled kindly, and soon, many forgot about the previous clan leaders. Basilisk felt as if there was something missing, in his mind, in his soul. Chimera remained his faithful follower, and soon Basilisk realized what he’d been missing. He’s been missing his charge. He thinks about it long into the night, and realized finally, with Chimera at his side. Basilisk’s newfound clan, no, his new family, was his charge, and he would die to protect them. |
