The clan's main caretaker of hatchlings. Young dragons may spend more or less time with him, depending on their parents, but they all learn to love his bright scales and soothing voice.

Uriel was a wanderer in his youth, crossing most of Sornieth in the quest for his Charge. He stayed for a time in the Shadow's territory, where he forged a bond with Jessica. When he moved on, they stayed in contact; this saved his life.

In the Southern Icefield, Uriel was waylaid by a herd of treacherous centaurs who claimed to be offering hospitality. Instead, they trapped him in a cave-in and left him there for several weeks.

(It became apparent much later that they were not all in agreement on what to do with their dragon prisoner, or whether they even needed one. It was eventually decided that they should just eat him. Leadership crises like this were one reason this herd eventually collapsed and re-merged with the Sunsetspeakers.)

Uriel was bravely rescued by Jessica, Russ, and Fulgrim, and spent the next year recovering from his ordeal. Life was looking up for him: he didn't die, he was reunited with Jessica, and he even found his Charge in the form of an abandoned Imperial hatchling he named Augusta. Uriel proved to be an excellent father to little Augusta, if a little bit smothering. Having found his calling in life, Uriel proceeded to become Clan Dad, and enjoys it. Most days, he can be found with a collection of hatchlings and adolescents, telling stories in the nursery or romping around outside. His greatest sorrow is that so many of his charges end up leaving the clan, something he can only get over by clinging ever more tightly to Augusta and Jessica.

He and Jessica are mates...mostly. Their relationship is on-again, off-again, and they have both hade children with other dragons.
