You wouldn't guess by looking at him, but Dust is (technically) the rightful heir to an economically and culturally prosperous kingdom. As the oldest (and, currently, only) son of the king, he is fully entitled to the throne, should he choose to claim it.

Unfortunately, he's also an illegitimate child, sired in his father's wild, rebellious youth with a woman of low birth, and his mother, made bitter by the king's refusal to wed her, taught Dust nothing but contempt for the royal lineage. Therefore, he really has no interest in such things and would much rather be left alone with his garbage, if it's all the same to you or anyone else.

To hear him tell it, his mother planned to use him to seek revenge on his father, and this is why she brought him up to be just as bitter as she was. This backfired, however, when Dust decided he'd had enough of politics for one lifetime and struck out on his own in search of a less tumultuous place to call home.

While Clan Feldspar certainly isn't the quiet, problem-free paradise he sought, it was good enough for him, so he settled and became its resident waste manager.

There is nothing he loves more than the putrid stench and nauseating taste of rotting garbage. He was born for this job and takes great pride in it. As far as he's concerned, trash of any kind is his charge. He collects and hoards what he does not eat zealously and has been known to become violent when his collection is threatened.

Whether or not he's really a guardian of trash remains to be seen.
