Discovered as a tiny foundling lost at the edge of the Fire Flight's hunting grounds, she was found by Borealis when he heard the child's melodic cries and thought it a bird to bring home for the clan's food stores.

Feeling sorry for the child, Borealis brought her home to the rest of the clan. It didn't take long for her to charm everyone with her beautiful chiming voice and her insatiable curiousity. She was given the name Orchid, because of her colouration, and spends her time following Prince around, hoping he will pay attention to her and her songs.

As she grew, it became clear that Orchid's beautiful voice came with a side effect. While her vocalizations were beautiful and haunting and charmed even the birds from the trees, she was unable to form the sounds required to speak in the language other dragons use. While far from mute, Orchid is unable to speak and her clan has learned to interpret her cheerful birdlike voice. Other dragons do not understand her but Orchid communicates perfectly well with her clan and anyone who is willing to pay attention to her gestures and signing.
