Runic Ability Manifestation
Andromeda hails from a clan of nomadic Runic Spell-Weavers. Each runic dragon's ability manifests in a slightly different way. Andromeda discovered hers by accident. It's a rather interesting story, actually... One day she was tidying up some stones around the lair, trying to clean up the mess that she had made whilst chasing after her Hedgehog friend, Henry. She had kicked up quite a bit of dirt and somehow managed to inhale enough of it to make her sneeze. The weird thing was that when she sneezed, a small black substance began forming before her eyes. She let out an instinctive yelp and hopped back a few feet. Upon hearing the commotion, Gaia immediately flew out to aid Andromeda against whatever was causing her distress. She quickly realized that Andromeda's Runic abilities had begun to manifest. "Ah, don't be alarmed my child. You are simply developing your abilities. Come - we must inspect this black substance further and begin to understand what you've created," said Gaia. They continued examining the black substance to determine what it was, how she created it, and if she ever should again! |

Ability Development
"I don't know how I created it - I just sneezed," whined Andromeda. With exasperation, she tossed a rock towards the mass, but to her surprise she never heard it land. She jumped up and ran to the other side only to find that the rock she threw had disappeared into the mass, and that mass was slowly closing! "Wait...what if it's like a portal?!", said Andromeda. "Well, normally a portal gives an indication as to where it leads...this one shows only darkness. I fear it is not safe for us to try and travel through it." "Yea, that's probably true...but, what if we brought another portal creating dragon with us? Surely she could create us a different portal to get back out!" "Well, you would need to be able to open another, to see if they lead to the same place...here, try this - close your eyes and concentrate...imagine a room with nothing but that rock in it. Then, try to sort of push the thought out of your head and out in front of you. If this creation is indeed like an empty portal room then perhaps you need to think of creating a portal to only the specific items that are in it," Gaia calmly suggested. "Keep in mind that it will take time and persistence." "Uhhh...okay. I can do it..." said Andromeda, rather timidly. |

The Final Test
Andromeda concentrated and tried for many moons, until she finally created a portal again. "GAIA! Gaia, come quick!" yelled Andromeda. "Ah, you've done it! Great job. Throw another item in it, then try and replicate the process while I see if one of the other portal makers is willing to come with us." said Gaia. Within a few minutes, one of the more adventurous portal-makers returned bouncing alongside Gaia. "Oh how exciting!" exclaimed Narolth. "I can't wait to see what is on the other side of this black hole!" With that, Andromeda created another portal and they all went through . "Uh, hello? Is anyone here?" said Andromeda. "Yes, we are all here actually...good thing I brought a torch," said Narolth. "You never know when you might need one, with portal jumping." He lights the torch and they all see that they are in a vast and empty room...well, almost empty. There are two little rocks sitting about two feet from each other in the center of the room. "Huh! Would you look at that! Both rocks are here!" exclaims Andromeda. "I must be able to create this portal room over and over again!" "Indeed! Well, let's not stay away too long. You have more practicing to do," said Gaia. "Narolth, please portal us back home." Since then, Andromeda has learned to control her creation of this "Portal Room" and has since done many experiments to finesse her abilities and confirm that her portal always leads to the same place. She now shares the role of "Vault Keeper" with Narolth. Andromeda creates the portal to get there, and Narolth creates the way back home. The clan keeps their most dangerous possessions there, as the only way to get there and back is through these two dragons. The clan recognizes that if something happens to Andromeda, there may be no other way to get back to the Room. For these items, it is worth the risk.
