Toph

Toph was born blind. Hence the name inspiration. She was often an inconvenience to her clan. When an attack would come, she would sit out in the open, her dark colors bold against the snow. So unlike her clan's coloring. Her father panicked and thrust her into the snow one such occurrence, and lost his life because of it.

The clan was dismayed. The Southern Icefield was no place for a creature that couldn't even hide. Threats were always looming, and the clan became angry and fearful that she would further put her clan into harm's way.

So they voted on whether she would stay or not. The vote was ultimately cost against her favor by her own mother, who was worn down by watching out for her helpless hatchling. So Toph was abandoned far away at the foot of the Cloudscrape crags.

As she sat, all by herself out in the open, she thought to herself, "I should probably hide like papa told me to."

She wormed her way into the snow, unbeknownst to her, she was right above a hidden underground snow tunnel. She soon found out when she fell in it.

A voice spoke out, apparently bewildered, "What's a child doing out here?"

Suddenly she was being lifted to face whoever was already taking residency in the snow tunnel.

"Ah, blind are we?" The voice asked, their voice softening.

She didn't protest, perhaps the exhaustion had finally kicked in.
