There are a number of herbs and potions and incenses that can be used to conjure ghosts and communicate with them. The Ghostlight always carries a stock.

The Ghostlight's capsule is more glow in the dark, to help attract ghosts and unrestful spirits so she can lay them to rest.

A blessing granted her by a powerful ghost she freed from a curse, this skein of magic makes her seem more approachable to spirits and aids her work.

Not everything wants to pass on. Lux keeps a selection of such in the hope that peace will eventually help them get to that point.

PERSONALITY

Spiritual guardian and advisor to the clan, Ghostlight has a particular skill with the dead, undead and dying, especially those of unnatural or unfortunate deaths. A kindly creature, she goes dressed both in armour and in the markers of her particular form of faith - the bracelet and anklets she wears, of silver and purple, to mark the bones of death and ghosts and the purple of spirit, life and magic itself.

Ghostlight is often found wandering battlefields - old or still active - and offering guidance and aid to those she encounters. Her many potions are not just for show; she has saved as many lives as she has helped peacefully pass on, and the more luminous ones mark her passage - a ghost of light through a dark place.

ABOUT

Her heart has glowed since she was small, an illuminating light, pulsing warmly from her chest. It was a hard thing to explain to others, why, despite her hard armour plating, as appropriate for a guardian, her heart was so clearly worn.

"You are meant for something," her mother said, strapping on her armour before heading out for the day's hunt. "I know not what. But something."

Hedone's faith had been utterly justified - a guardian always knows their Charge, and while the Lux's father had found his elsewhere, leaving the clan and finding purpose in Exaltation, Hedone's Charge was in seeing the clan supplied, stockrooms full, clan territory cultivated, dragons and familiars alike kept in good health.

And, Hedone insisted, one cannot be in good health if one is heartsick.

"You will find your path," Lux's mother had promised her, cradling her in her lap in the evening - an oddity, but Ghostlight had not wanted to leave when her time under Meridian's care was over, had wanted to stay had felt-

"You will find your path, whatever it is - and if you are certain it is here, then it is here."

Then they'd found the catacombs. Then she'd known.

Her mother had not wanted her to venture, even as the Charge-pull tugged her towards the grand, sealed stone doors - but she was persistent, and even at her age she was a guardian, she was strong. She forced the door open.

She knew why her mother feared the dead - the living can be ended with simple, obvious means. One can kill an animal - and Hedone had, to feed the clan. One can catch and end an insect, net and gut a fish, scythe up plants.

But the dead were dead. There was nothing left that could harm them anymore.

"Yes there is," said Ghostlight - that was her name now, she claims it now, she knows what she is now. "They can be haunted- it's not funny! - they can be haunted by their pasts! By their deaths! By their losses! They can be hurt by everything they went through in life and not all can find their way to rest just as a hatchling after a bad scare can't just go to sleep."

Her mother understood that well enough. How many nightmares had Ghostlight had as a young one, unsure of what her future might be? How many nightmares had Hedone had when grown, worrying for a colleague or her own daughter?

"They need me," Lux had said. "They need me, mother. No one else can help them like I can."

Her mother's claws had been gentle as they sketched a blessing over her forehead.

"Their light in storming emotion," she murmured. "A ghost-light indeed."

RELATIONSHIPS

Lievetel | Minder of the Dead

Ambassador to the Avian Beastclans and Cleric to the Shadowbinder with a specific interest in the Shadow of Death, Lievetel is well equipped for aiding the Ghostlight's work.

When none else know what to do, it is she who points the spiritualist towards points of interest, and who keeps them supplied with what items they require. Someone must, after all.

Macaria | Colleague

Likewise one with a link to death and spirits, Macaria and Lux's work often overlaps.

While they take care not to infringe on one another's domains, they have no issue with collaborating, especially as they know one another to be the only ones likely to fully understand the nuances of working with ghosts.

Alectrona | Boss

It had not been initially thought of when the clan was founded, what to do with the dead, but when the clan's expansion found first the catacombs and then the Ancient Graves it became obvious that it was necessary.

As such, Ghostlight acts as mediator for clan Administration, and ensures that new attempts to expand do not upset any lingering spirits.

Viaferre | Counselling Patient

The Viaferre carries the weight of many sins on his shoulders and when the weight becomes too much it is to the Ghostlight he goes.

A more moralistic dragon, he fears, will judge him, or will assure him simpy that in doing better and making amends now he is better than he was - but he will never believe that.

In her capacity to summon spirits, the Ghostlight knows some of those he's hurt, and with that knowledge, they are better able to see him helped.
