His egg’s origin is lost to time. It was found by some Coliseum party, quite unexpectedly, seemingly abandoned and rather pale, but quite unmistakably of the Earth element. WindSky Weyr was small then, but there was a pair of Earth dragons eager to raise the foundling. They wasted no time molding newborn Terrath into an Earth representative, to carry on when they departed … and while they raised him with love, Terrath was never fully at ease in the role they gave him, feeling the heavy weight of their expectations. He didn’t feel like a very good Snapper. He hated his wings. He went so far as to submit to a large tattoo, to try and make them look more fitting. Fake it til you make it, right? He found himself in a teaching role, but his heart wasn’t really in it.

As time passed, the Weyr grew, and other dragons native to Dragonhome arrived. Though he tried his best around them, he still felt awkward. Dirth and Terrafirmath were so casually confident, he could feel his own lack that much more, though they never treated him like an outsider. Yet he was glad of their presence, as he could let them handle relations, and spend time with himself instead. Baxonth would often find him alone, pondering his reflection in quiet pools. And he noticed something else, perhaps due to a shared tendency for introspection. “You don’t seem to be comfortable in your own body” he’d commented one day after joining him at the water’s edge. “Have you ever considered that you might not have the right one?”

He hadn’t.
