The rich history of Flabebes. (yes im in nature and i have an inside joke from the fire flight.)

18/04/14: Koopaling starts a joke thread in the Fire Forum addressing the Flamecaller. The OP contains a picture of a man with a misspelled tattoo on his arm reading “Thenks mather for my life” and a link. Because links in the FR forums are borked at the time, this link sends everyone who clicks on it to a hatchery prominently featuring a pair of blue tundras rather than wherever it was supposed to. In an attempt to make sense of this, people joke that the tundras are Flamecaller’s most devoted children (this starts with clockworkmoose responding with a picture of the Flamecaller holding a blue tundra (along with some faes from the hatchery) and saying “UR WALCOME MY FLAMBÉBÉS”). And so the legend of the flamebebes is born
Flambebes remain an in-flight joke. Fireballs start buying them. Due to the lack of appropriate dragons and difficulties involved in searching the AH for a specific colour scheme at this time (this is well before the AH has fields for colours), nearly all of the dragons bought to be flambebes require at least some scrolling. Any dragon in the appropriate colours people can find is bought and turned into a flambebe, including triple-gened irishim coatls (which are very expensive at the time).

19/04/14: A Flambebe Center is created for flambebe enthusiasts to share art and jokes and stuff.

11/05/14-17/05/14: Fire pushes for dominance against plague (and wins!). A thread is started in FRD to discuss the battle (www1.flightrising.com/forums/frd/1077668/1). In the Fire Forum, it is suggested that it’d be funny if a bunch of us changed our avatars to flambebes, posted there, and waited to see how long it took people to notice. It didn’t take long. This was followed by a period in which *********** would often see questions and complaints about flambebes from people outside Fire Flight, which tended to attract floods of responses of “thenks mather!” Flambebes attain notoriety outside Fire Flight. http://www1.flightrising.com/forums/frd/1156858/1

20/05/14: A Flambebe Registry is created for the sharing, registering (duh), and purchasing of flambebes.

21/05/14: Origin stories for flambebes are created by KatieKat. She also writes brief descriptions for the significance of the different tertiary genes.

22/05/14: Flambebes receive an entry in the Flight Rising wiki, which describes them as a “subspecies” (pretty sure this is the earliest usage of this term in relation to FR, but could be wrong). A link to the wiki article is posted in the Fire Forums (I think by Coolkid), resulting in comments of “thenks mather” on the article’s comments field.
Over this first month or so there’s a continuous refinement and fleshing out of the rules a dragon must adhere to in order to be considered a flambebe. The concept of flambobos is introduced so that people don’t feel bad about near misses, or if they want to keep irishim on their flambebe.
Education/indoctrination of new members with each reg window. People regularly hold flambebe giveaways.

Flameforger’s 2014: Fire again pushes for dominance, and again people switch their avatars to flambebes, establishing a tradition that continues to this day of fire flighters using flambebes as our avatars when we push for dom (though it’s nowhere near as widespread as it used to be).

2015: Though most of the users initially involved with the creation of flambebes are no longer very active, the flambebe legend endures. As of 22/08/15, a dragon search for tundras named flambebe yields 866 results. Not all of these results are true flambebes, and of course many of those dragons have been exalted, however, there have still been large numbers of flambebes over the course of the site’s history – especially when you consider that many people give their flambebes their own names, rather than sticking with the generic one.
