Biography

njw1PfD.png
This subspecies is based on the Mortal Instruments series by Cassandra Clare.

The Nephilim, also known as the Shadowhunters, are a sect of dragons dedicated to fighting the Shade that have been blessed by their deity and undertake a complex series of oaths and rituals in order to augment their combat abilities. These dragons consider themselves to possess angelic qualities and powers, and are marked by Seraph wings and dark-colored Runes that signify this blessing.

Nephilim generally have black-range Runes and desaturated wings, as well as light-colored primary genes that allow the runes to be seen. These runes endow the Shadowhunters with above-average strength and allow them to more easily perceive the Shade.

Nephilim dragons are most commonly found in species with a history of combat. While many Nephilim choose to live in lairs with others of their kind, they are more than capable of operating on their own. While the Shade will always be their first priority, Nephilim have taken on many roles historically, including weapon-making, archival work and coliseum training. The Hewn City is a special place for the Nephilim, as the Lightweaver is the deity that most closely aligns with their work. This is why many Nephilim are Light dragons or have chosen to make a pilgrimage to the Hewn City at some point in their training.

Nephilim is the first of his kind. His parents were simple Plague dragons with no real history or legacy to speak of, just the constant chaos of the Rotrock Rim. Nephilim didn't want that. He wanted to leave a mark on something, to hear songs and praises wherever he went. But most importantly, he wanted to fight.

The Wildclaw was originally slated for exaltation as a hatchling. He was the last in a long line of offspring, and the Plaguebringer is a demanding goddess. However, he managed to run away, legs pumping and wings flapping to carry him East. As he was leaving Plague territory he was snapped up by the Auction House and put up for bidding. There, he was found and promptly bought by Nadvoje of Clan Strafe. The hatchling (still nameless at this point) was wary of the Coatl, but he remembered his father's Water-blue eyes and found some solace in Nadvoje's identical gaze.

He chose the name Nephilim because of his father. He very much resembled him, in breed and hide — Giraffe, Seraph, Underbelly together in monochromatic splendor. The second gene was his favorite. He would look at his own wings for hours and remember the songs that his mother would click out about angels.

Exalting Nephilim to the service of the Lightweaver will remove them from your lair forever. They will leave behind a small sum of riches that they have accumulated. This action is irreversible.
