It was said locked in a tower high above, was a woman more beautiful than any other in the land. Her beauty was too great, they said, she had to be locked away so that no one would ever fall victim to her enchanting ways. Xiu Hua accepted her life, sometimes glancing outside the windows to the ground below so she could see the world outside.
She couldn’t say what was most important in her life. Her heart was full of love that she couldn’t contain, for three bodyguards her father had hired for her. How was she meant to choose between three men that all visited her at night, showering her in love and affection?
Yue was the most reserved, but he was so sentimental. He always visited her first, pressing soft kisses against her lips and cheeks as long silver hair tickled her jaw. Her hands always pressed against his shoulders, keeping him close against her as she bathed in his love and affection.He was always the first to visit her.
Shei was softer, no less a warrior than the other two but just as welcomed in her heart. Xiu Hua would brush her fingers over bandages, keeping them in place and taking care of him in a way he said no one else had before. She was happy to be that person, to provide him support and motivate him to be the best body guard he could be. He always visited her second.
Iruka was different from the others. His affection was shown in different ways, bringing her new fabrics when she talked about making a new outfit, explaining to her the different sword types. He would sit next to her as Xiu Hua ran her fingers through his short and choppy hair, listening to stories of past battles. She would press kisses against his temple and allow him to rest as he laid his head on her shoulder. He was always the last to visit her.
None of them knew that the others visited her. Xiu Hua wanted to make sure it stayed that way, as she was unable to decide between the three of them. They each loved her, and she loved them in her own ways, and they were just what she wanted.
“I could take you away from here, away from all of this.” Yue wrapped his arms around her waist, pressing his head against her shoulder. “We could start a whole new life somewhere else, just you and I.”
Xiu Hua laughed slightly, hiding her face against his hair. He smelled of freshly fallen snow, it was addicting. “We could, maybe one day.”
It was a conversation that she had several times, with each of them. She knew they only stayed where they were, sneaking into her chambers at night, because she refused to move. A decision had to be made, but Xiu Hua refused to make it.
“Don’t you want to be with me? Outside of this tower? I can take you to see the world. Show you every land I conquered.” Iruka brushed a strand of hair away from her eyes. “I can give you anything you ever wanted.”
“I have everything I want right here.” Xiu Hua took his hand, and pressed a kiss against his warm palm. Iruka blushed, turning his gaze away from her.
“Please?” Shei almost begged as Xiu Hua changed his bandages, not for the first time. “Please, let’s run away together.”
“I don’t understand why you don’t want to leave.”
It was a phrase that passed each of their lips, to which Xiu Hua always said the same thing in reply. She had no desire to leave, to abandon two of her loves in just to have one. Xiu Hua always replied the same way, with a simple phrase and kiss to their lips.
“I have everything I need right here.”
