He had no idea what he was getting into; Abel only wanted to keep this young woman from ending her life. They had both been so young... years passed and he had long forgotten the incident. However, Mara would never forget. No. She'd spent 15 years of her life hating herself and wishing she could die but then, at the last moment, he'd come and saved her. "Don't leave me!" He'd told her, pressing his shaky hands to her gaping wounds. All those years of self-hatred bloomed into a deep and unyielding love for this stranger that was uncontrollable in nature. Her nightmares and hallucination episodes remained by they all revolved around him; the only man in the world that she would ever love. She wanted to protect him. She wanted him to return her feelings. She knew deep down that Abel, in spite of not acting the part, felt the same way about her. So when she saw him with other women well.... that was simply heartbreaking for her. She'd 'hallucinate' about destroying them and keeping her love safe from sultry eyes and impure thoughts of women who didn't know him like she did. Little did Mara know, her hallucinations were sometimes memories that her mind was protecting her from. Sometimes she would attack other women, but the poor girl didn't know it. No, she didn't want to be that kind of monster and so her mind protected her from it in the only way it could. But even so, even though she knew it was strange and weird and maybe even creepy, little Mara would stand at the edge of the forest and watch him come home every night, content to protect him from a distance while he slept. That was the least she could do to protect the man who had saved her life. |
