The Selfish, Selfless Doctor

B I O G R A P H Y

Eurydice grew up on the border of the Nature and Light lands, blessing her with one green eye and one golden eye, though when forced to use magic it is only of her nature heritage. Her parents were a high priest and high priestess of the Goddess of Light, personally blessed with the forms of Imperials. She is highly proud of this fact and is honored to have them as her parents, as it is of great respect to have such a close tie to the goddess. Growing up she was always drawn to the art of healing and medicine, and when she was a teenager she saw the dark side of doctors. The greedy ones who only were in it for the money and she vowed to not be like them, and would always place the well being of her patients first.

Orpheus came into her life when she was in a college of medicine, located deep within the lands of Light. She had lost track of time, her nose buried in a tome of biology, with more stacked around her, when her concentration was broken by a cough. The male imperial informed her that the library had closed hours before hand, and he was doing final rounds before he locked up for the night. Embarrassed at her lack of awareness she helped him return her mountain of books, he was grateful for her help. After that she’d be allowed to stay late on the nights he closed and they would accompany each other to a late dinner then to their homes afterward.

Years passed and she finally became a doctor and in that time she and Orpheus became mates. But all was not well in their relationship. Like she swore when she was young, she did put her patients first. All of them, even the ones that couldn’t pay, often giving out free treatment. Eurydice would work for days on end, having little to eat or sleep as she watched over the weak and sick. In this time she neglected her relationship with her family, this drove a wedge between her and her mate, causing them to have a huge argument and to temporarily split up. But only a few short days later they made up, with her promising to try and change for the better, but not much changed. Orpheus still holds out hope that she will. One night while they were on a very rare date, they felt a cold set of eyes on their back, Eurydice feeling more uncomfortable than ever before and they rushed back to their home. They still don’t know what this was that was stalking them, but they shrugged it off as an animal.
