Autumn, Captain of Wayward

Defining Characteristics
Optimistic -- Stubborn -- Compulsive -- Trusting

Autumn's always held an interesting streak when it came to her actions. She's a notorious optimist, always there to lend a helping hand whenever someone's struggling with something and feeling down. She gets almost aggressively optimistic in that same note, and gets frustrated when people can't see the better side of things. She comes off as very stubborn, being set in her ways and not wanting to change her mind unless she's given irrefutable proof that she's in the wrong. This clashes horribly with her compulsiveness, which often ends up with her in strange situations or getting hurt.

Because of her position as First Mate, she's developed a harsh exterior which is quick to snap and punish. However, because of this she's developed a bad habit of nearly constantly talking to herself in the Coatl language, since most others don't understand, and those that do don't work closely with her, so she doesn't have much to fear. Since she did originally speak Coatl before she spoke the common tongue, she speaks with a bit of a heavy accent and, like most other Coatls, can't understand faes at all.

One thing she has developed over the years is being unexplainably trusting of most others. Even those she's just met she's likely to trust them, at least until they prove that they aren't, or do something she doesn't agree with. She always pushes it off as being an offshoot of her optimism, but there's something underneath there that she likes to keep hidden.

She still likes to think her few bad traits are outweighed by how much she tries to help. She does everything for her clan's ship, The Wayward, and is always around to lend a helping hand to anyone who needs it.

History

Autumn remembers little from the first clan that she lived in. She remembered more about what happened after that, but the few details she did remember stuck sharply out in her memory. She didn't know if it was a clan she was born in, or if it was just her and her mother- all she really remembers while being a hatchling is always being afraid, huddling against her mother in a dark, damp dirt den. This left her with a fear of tightly enclosed spaces, such as caves and closets. When she was just barely old enough to survive without her mother, she was taken someplace else where she squandered most of her days wandering around a town.

One day she saw the strangest ship she had ever seen at the docks. It didn't take her long to get talking with a strange dragon (who was a breed she would later learn was a Bogsneak) who was near her age, who had come from the ship. He told her amazing tales of life on the ship, of swinging free over the dark waves from the rigging, or learning how to fend for yourself- she was sold within minutes.

She rushed home with this dragon and one of the other crew members in tow, begging her caretakers to let her go. The crew member had talked long and hard with her caretakers, finally leaving with a promise to pick her up the next day. She waited eagerly by her door with her few possessions the next morning, and soon the two dragons returned. Money was exchanged, and before she realized it, she was on deck.

The Bogsneak introduced himself as Hematite (or Hema, as he preferred). The crew member was Tundra named Stalick, who revealed that he was actually leaving the crew at the next town, which is why they had agreed to hire her on.

So began her long struggle from a normal crew member to being the Captain of The Wayward.
